Depends on you major. You are gonna suffer if you are Pre-law/Pre-med, engineer, accounting, etc.
If you are psychology/management/liberal arts, better learn drinking games :D

It's good for forgetting things.
1) People should try to resolve things that they don't wish to bare.
2) There are other ways to forget that are healthier.

Excuse me?
Maybe when you experience some incredibly painful times and a night out with family you will change your tune.
Everyone has a reason for doing things, and alcohol is in no way "bad", it's the irresponsible people that make it bad.
Alcohol is delicious.
Bro, you ain't gonna survive in college without at least respecting the choices of others, be it alcohol or weed or smoking because whether you like it or not, it's gonna be there.

LOL
I'll bare them, but I won't respect them.
Oh, so I'm a terrible person now? There are better ways for people to deal with these things, and said things should be practiced at a younger age, 'cause relying on mind numbing drinks (funny 'cause this is literal) to "ease pain" is quite silly when there are cheaper and healthier alternatives that will last longer.

Everyone goes through their own "incredibly painful times". Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't mean they haven't, and the fact that they've gotten through them without alcohol says something.
I've personally known alcoholics in your situation and they're mostly in denial. If you're still as depressed as you claim to be, then guess what? They're not working. Drugs are only temporary solutions to your problems, and they're for the weak, IMO. Seeing people try to justify it as a good way to get rid of depression is repulsive&disappointing.

You should probably start thinking about internships and jobs now.
