I think ethnicity empowering months are idiotic and promote the hideous thought of nationalism even more.
Although it is essential to learn about the subject of segregation, racism, ect it's just stupid to learn the same over and over and over each year.
It's such a waste, although I don't completely agree with Morgan Freeman I can see where he's coming from.

I find the concept of separating people as different "races" to be asinine. You're a human, that's it.

Literally every day in America is white history month.
As a kid, I remember having to sit through every boring ass history class in school, learning the same LOLWHITEPRIDE bullshit again and again. Literally the only thing we learned about non-white people was a small portion of history about the Native Americans (which did nothing but undermine or even outright ignore all of the disgusting shit they did to the Natives in order to steal their land), a brief overview of slavery (and by overview, I mean, yet again, bullshit), and something about the Chinese immigrants.
Some white people really need to get their head bashed in a wall a couple of times or something. Because of assholes like them, people automatically assume the worst of me simply because I happen to be white. I loathe being lumped in with dimwitted bigots like them.
Literally like the only time I learned about blacks in school is when I joined AAAA
(African American Appreciation Association)
And very briefly during black history month
"We're legally obligated to remember this ma-NOW BACK TO WHITE PEOPLE"
The AAAA was actually told several times "to wait for BHM" to put up posters and celebrate African American culture
I don't hate white people, I hate when white people try to silence minorities

We learned about black people whenever it was relevant. They didn't just randomly sit down and go "AND NOW CLASS TODAY WE'RE GOING TO TALK ALL ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE FOR NO REASON." but when one came up in the book or was relevant to what we were learning, we learned about them. Same with any other race. If they had anything to do with that part of the history we were learning, we learned about them. And that's how it should be. Of course the majority of an American history class is going to be about white people. That's because, ah'durr, the founders of America were mostly white people. But(Unless you live in the south, apparently) they also teach about the other races and what they went through/accomplished when it is relevant. They don't just say "Today we're learning about the pilgrims. AND LETS THROW IN SOME CHINESE RAILROAD SLAVERY EVEN THOUGH IT'S TOTALLY OUT OF PLACE!" When you learn about the pilgrims, you learn about the Indians. When you learn about the railroads, you learn about the Chinese, when you learn about the civil war you learn about slavery and segregation and shit. Then when you get into learning about more modern times you get your MLK and Rosa Parks and whatnot.
Tl;dr If you are in an American history class you should learn about people as they are relevant to that history regardless of race.
What you SHOULDN'T have is one specific month to talk about one race and only that race, nothing else.
That's segregation. You know. That thing they fought to get rid of because they didn't want to be separated from everyone else?
And the Sins of the Father shit is bullshit. I'm not racist. I didn't own slaves. So I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for something I didn't do and had no control over.

Is racism still a thing? I've never met an actual racist. All I see are people who need someone to be mad at.

I dont know what you expected when you went into a high school history course. Especially if it was AMERICAN history because than all the main points you learn are about what white people did to make this country a country. Not all the things that other races contributed to our country. If it was world cultures than yeah I agree with you but it sounds like you just learned american history main points.

The way I sees it:
I don't give a flying fuck about your heritage or the color of your skin, and I don't want to hear about it.
However I invite comedians to make fun of any stereotypical racial traits because it's fucking hilarious and political correctness can kiss my ass.
