Anyone who asks why there is no white history month, is an idiot, practically every day is the celebration of white people.
Though, honestly, I don't care about skin color, ethnicity, sexuality, whatever. Am I inconsiderate and bigoted? No, I just view people as people, simple as that, and if people want to celebrate their culture and heritage, that's fine, though I've never really been a fan of history. (I recognize African Americans had it terrible, though that's the past, let's keep it that way. I also know that they still face discrimination, I have African American family members, I live in a Southern town, I'm demisexual, I have a transgender little brother, I know that shit goes down. And if you say that the "Sins of my father/grandfather/whatever are mine" or bullshit of that line, no, they aren't.)

NATIVE AMERICANS
I actually hear a lot of Indians complaining about people calling them native americans. They are like, "I call myself an Indian, we call each other Indians, the only people who don't call us Indians are white people who think it's offensive to call us what we are."

Well they were originally called Indians because of a certain confused historical figure, so they're really not... though I do agree that "native american" is like saying "african american". Most of the black people we call african american never even set foot anywhere near africa. I'm of european decent, I'm not called "european american". I'm a white guy.

What should Asians be called, then?

Black History Month invaded our cafeteria. One of the top U.S. colleges and they had fried chicken and waffles because apparently that's not just some crazy stereotype. The comments people were making were rather depressing as well.

Please, everyone knowns waffles and fried chicken are historical staples of plantation slave cuisine resulting from a mix of native African cuisine (chicken is actually pretty big there, to be fair - or at least in parts of it, let's not pretend Africa is a homogenous place) and the leftovers of white massa cuisine.

Well, I knew that it wasn't a stereotype. I've seen several "Soul Food" restaurants and they all brag about how great their chicken and waffles is.
But I'm still kind of surprised they had them at the college. Lmao.

It's embarassing when your sarcastic comment isn't actually far off the truth.

It's hard to tell if you're being serious, Campy, but if you want to go for traditional slave food then it should have been chitlins and collard greens. You know, the stuff the other folks wouldn't eat.

The best soul food I've ever had was in New Orleans :full:

The best soul food I've ever had was at my grandmother's house. Sometimes there's chicken, usually baked, but there have never been waffles.

I dunno if chicken and waffles is stereotypical/racist or not but I've eaten some prepared by a black guy and it was delicious. I didn't ask him what he thought about the stereotype behind the food though. I don't want something that tasty to be shunned for such dumb reasons.

If the cafeteria had served delicious stereotypes, I'd have been more ok with it. But these were frozen waffles, so...
