Seems that each version has slight variations of this which I find to be particularly interesting that they went through the effort of changing it up between regions.

No. I don't know who you heard it from, but the director never said he didn't like the concept of Aces, don't cut to false conclusions when you didn't even directly read the article.
The director only said that the Aces will be irrelevant in the new chapter, as well as the skillsets. He said that they may or may not appear in later generations.
