Most Efficient Buff Foods

I thought they were before testing, but it doesn't even seem to be a simple range. If it is a range at all, then the various ranges overlap. Perhaps the quality indicates the max roll for another number that then determines stars, which would explain all the overlap.

Nope, it's easy to tell if you have quality mod on, 90 ish quality food is 5*, 99-100 is best server dish. Can't remember exactly, been a while since i cooked anything.

Yeah, and it's not like that anymore. 5 star is only a chance. You can get a perfect dish and have it show up as 4 stars (though it'll count for 5-star quests since they didn't change the quest system to account for this, people found this out with the homestead dragon dalies).

EDIT: Specifically because the quests check for quality, not stars. The two aren't the same thing anymore.

Wrong. Festival Food filled with Grilled White Dragon Heart would beat it by far and apply to a much larger range of skill sets.

Of course it would also be extremely expensive to the point where probably not worth it. But if you really wanted to test things to insane levels and have capped Str/int/will/luck/dex for 20 minutes ya.

I've cooked a billion dishes for monkeys after that cooking update, i know well the quality rating is random even if you set the same % of ingredients but the stars are based on the food quality which only people with mods can see.

Yes, I think if it weren't for festival food that these and other food options would not be practical for higher end players. However, after you confirmed that all of the foods effects packed into a festival food basically stack, I think these easy and inexpensive to make dishes will be quite potent (i.e. increasing my bow max by nearly 120 by eating a 10 club sandwich festival food.) As you (King) also mentioned, there comes a point where food buffs are outweighed by the time investment it takes to create the foods for the picnic.

If I understand correctly from the training reqs, you can get to r1 Festival Foods and access the buffs without even a high rank of cooking. I'm unsure if cooking rank still contributes through the packed foods to the effect time of a festival food.[/FONT][/SIZE]

As far as i'm aware the effect time of festival food is fixed based on the rank of festival food itself and is independent of cooking and you can buy/sell the picnics you make as well. I'm not sure if the time is based on the person who create the picnic though or the person who places it.

Also even though I am 10k total, I'm not one shoting things in Peacca Abyss and neither is Kenero who is about 3k total higher than me. So food buffs still have a place regardless of what some elitists may say.

I'd want to assume it is based on the person who made it, since after certain ranks you are able to pack more and more food into a picnic, and by giving it to someone with a lower rank they can place a picnic with more items than their rank I'd assume they also get the longer time. Could be wrong and it's just a theory I guess.

Picnics are tradable and can be used by anyone regardless of their rank of Festival Food.
Their rank does not affect the stats in any way.
Their rank does affect how long the Festival Food effect last and how long the Festival Food being summoned.
Picnic will desummon if the owner leaves the map or channel.

Note: I replaced Mushroom Consomme with Mushroom Gratin, as it's more potent and with more tedious ingredients like mushrooms you may as well get potency.

I could see more hearty/expensive picnics being used in things like MA, since you're fighting around a single area for an extended time. I don't know how long it takes the average hardy group to run MA, but you could probably make a r1 picnic for the party around the start of round 3-4[/FONT][/SIZE]

You can stack all 10 dishes together. I thought I squashed this rumor when I covered the Master Chef update. It appears I didn't which makes me a little sad :(

Yeah.

And it's not an exact mapping of quality to stars. Like, before testing I thought that quality 0-100 matched stars 1-5 in increments of 20 since that makes logical sense, not knowing that stars and quality aren't the same thing anymore.

EDIT: To clarify (since I don't think I actually pointed it out) when concerning "quality" I mean the old idea, that is how close you were to perfect in adding the ingredients. That doesn't directly match with what's on the item anymore, modded display or no modded display. The final rating of the food is determined by a PRNG roll, which is where the randomness comes from and the stars are a result of that, which is why a "perfect" 4-star dish will fulfill the 5-star dragon quest requirement as I noted earlier.

That is a nice boost, but at 5 stars and with a main ingredient that has to be fished.

I personally would rather make a festival food with club sandwiches and hot chocolate if I needed str and dex.
