Childhood obesity is getting really bad, I'm at the park right now and there's a girl stuck in the slide because she's too fat.
It really makes me mad because it's not her fault she's fat, her parents but the food and chooses what she eats, not her.
I think parents should face some sort of punishment to discourage this
I mean damn

Criminal charges is fucking stupid, the fine can be them having to pay more in health insurance for having obese kids.

That would go against civil liberty. However government CAN introduce some programs that encourage more healthy diet for children such as free dietary lessons for parents, minicipal children vegetable delivery programs.

To follow up on cases like that may strain our legal system. However, I believe there has to be physical standards that have to be met and more thorough testing to see if a child has asthma. To enforce this, I would rather have meeting physical requirements a requisite for graduation. I know people hate this thought but if the nation ever needs to make a call for more troops, I don't want a kid's childhood or overprotective parent get in the way of them doing their part.

I don't know about kids nowadays, but my parents asked me what I wanted for dinner, and if I wanted healthy shit I could have had healthy shit. I just preferred the food that didn't taste like ass.
Every day I thank the god that I don't believe in that I graduated school before Obama took over. With all these health food programs his wife is forcing into schools, I would have starved. Because I would have rather eaten nothing than pay money to eat the shit they are forcing kids to eat now because it's 'healthy'. And all my friends feel the same way, and most of them are perfectly fit and healthy despite eating the "bad" food.
No one should have the right to tell someone else what they can or cannot eat. If you think people should be allowed to have abortions, do drugs, smoke cigarettes, or drink alcohol because it is their body and they have the right to do what they want with it, then the same thing applies to what they want to eat.

As long as you're talking about actual obesity, and not just overweightness. Then again, if they do such things, then they'll have to more clearly define the lines of "obesity". It'll cause a lot of problems, and I don't really think that it would work. I'd like to suggest an alternative: the government fining obese people who do not attend gyms regularily or do work-out routines on a regular basis. If they have special reasons not to (and with evidence to support said reasons) then they can be exempted.

The last thing we need is the government snooping on other people's business some more. Being fat isn't that terrible of a thing. Just let the poor fatties be.

And, knowing the government, they'd probably screw it up and end up fining innocent parents while the ones that really neglect their kids and let them eat whatever unhealthy crap they want will get away.

What would happen is they would end up punishing and fining poor families that can't afford to feed their kids the healthy foods, because as everyone knows healthy foods are more expensive.

That's a load of BS idiots came up with. You can eat healthy on the cheap; the real problem is the lack of education about nutrition. A disturbingly large number of Americans are completely ignorant about what they eat.

It is actual been proven false the healthy food is more expensive it's roughly the same
Healthy food can also been good tasting, it's just a majority of Americans are addicted to sugar and cants eat anything without it having massive amounts of heart-attack inducing sodium
Also were talking about children here, not adults
Adults can make their own decisions but if there's not a medical problem for your kid being obese (not slightly over weight but OBESE)
Then I consider that child neglect

A lot of these families are just poor. They don't have the education. They don't know how to build healthy meals, or don't have the time for it. Punishing them with fines are criminal charges is counterproductive. Some of them are just extremely lazy as well.
Unhealthy foods are usually cheaper than healthy foods. (Not only in money, but easier to prepare as well)

Mandatory food preparation classes to teach parents to cook, we do the same with parents who have substance abuse problems
I've spent time in foster care and a lot of people lose their kids until they get their shit together
Most foster kids go back to their parents within a year when their parents show they're actually trying for the sake of their kids
I think it should be the same with food, make parents take classes to teach them how to cook and shop smart and find time for their kids. It is possible, if you are too lazy or don't have the patience then you shouldn't be allowed to have children.
Obesity is a very dangerous problem and is only getting worse
We feed our kids junk at school and then we feed them junk at home and act surprised when little billy weights 200lbs at age 12
