Now you got two sides of the story, which one do you think is the truth?
Considering that Russia is now openly announcing that if Ukraine does not surrender its forces they will open fire... I'm going to believe the one about Russia declaring war.

It took Russia less than 2 days to secure Crimea--and they've done this with no bloodshed. They also have the support of the people and the local government. I think that's pretty impressive. As it stands, people are more afraid of of Kiev-style riots, which were in part provoked by the West and killed many... than the Russian troops. >_>
Russia doesn't need to open fire on the remaining Ukrainian soldiers--most of them have surrendered or joined the Russians already. There are a couple stubborn Ukrainian army bases left, but they're no threat as things are and I doubt Russia would wish to make things more complicated by attacking the soldiers there.

The idea of "do what I say or we kill you" makes me extremely uncomfortable

I just hope the USA doesn't plan to butt in and start spending all of our money into more unnecessary military costs.

I wouldn't worry about that. The US can't do much in this case anyway.
Fun development: The Crimean government voted to become a part of Russia, which Russia accepted. They'll be holding a referendum on March 16--if people agree, then Crimea will officially become a state of the Russian Federation.
The US and the EU are saying this referendum will be illegal, which is kind of funny. I guess democracy is only good as long as it goes their way, lol. Looking forward to see how the people will vote.
Also kind of funny: I woke up today, checked the headlines on my phone. There was a headline where the US was accusing Russia of human rights and sovereignty violations, something about the dangers of thereof. Right below it, there was a headline about a NATO drone killing an Afghan soldier by mistake. v:

Ukranian forces in Crimea are now regarded as invaders, Yoorah.

That depends on who you ask. And just now? According to the pro-Western side, they were regarded as invaders from the start. Those actually living in Crimea and their government may not share this sentiment.

I was skeptical of the west's position in this situation and I knew there was a ton of hypocrisy, but I didn't know it was that bad. rofl
Just take the bits about starting a war...with a grain of salt. That part is them trying to get more views/subs.

That "referendum" is rigged from the beginning. They ask to 1. Join Russia, 2. Return to 1992 constitution. There were many disputes about that constitution coz it was unlawful, it was cancelled in 1995. According to 1992 constitution Crimea have virtually all rights except those, they delegate to Ukrainian goverment by own will.
So basically its 1.join Russia or 2.join Russia
Which is absurd, imho

Because they were lied to with Russian media saying the proesters were a neonazi minority. Russia is clearly just looking for an opportunity to fuck the Ukraine's sovereignty with dirty tricks, and people are falling for it.
The Ukranians protested because the government was corrupt and incompetent, abandoning the benefits a closer association with the EU would've given the Ukraine in the long term for a little bit of short-term profit, falling for Russia's cash-carrot like the fucking idiot that POS of a president was. Obviously the fact that the Ukranian people have decided against corruption and incompetence and for stability and legal security (
something you'll never get when associating with Putin's Russia) pissed Russia off and they're trying to do their best to get their own will.
Putin is just a little fucker crying himself to sleep over the well-deserved fall of the CCCP and Russian dominance, that's all.
