If no one knew what these meant no one would use these.
I was sitting and thinking about this the other day, what server claims that they started this, or did a certain person start this?
Was it from another MMO? I don't recall another MMO with these types of party tags.

It came from Maplestory. People from Maple went over to Mabi when it came out, which lead to using a similar market lingo as Maple. As for games that used it before Maple not entirely sure.

If you're going to ask that you may as well ask about things like wm, nmo, nm, wmo, etc.

Those tags were in games long before Maple and Mabi.

I saw this in Ragnarok Online 15 years ago. And in games before that. These terms are not new.

There were online games 15 years ago

I read wiki and I see dates of like 2003-2004, and how long before 15 years ago were there online games?
Woah

For the love of god *facepalm*
Runescape man, RUNESCAPE! Not to mention World of Warcraft. Those 2 are the longest MMO's in existance.
EDIT: Actually there are earlier MMO's than that:

Looking at that, the first really widely available ones didn't come out until the late 90's after restrictions from the NSFNET were relaxed. EverQuest (1999) and Ultima Online (1997) are the first ones to become popularized.

I thought RS classic or just the classic RS was 1999, 15 years ago would be 1999, but what is long before RS? One year maybe everquest (1998)

Little more wikipedia digging:
Mabinogi is actually
older than WoW. Well, unless you count age by something other than the original release dates.

general MMORPG tags
the first time i saw the B> T> and such, was like 10 years ago or more (i think it's more than 10, since i wasn't even in the states yet), i don't even remember, since i see it on almost every mmorpg i've played.
