THIS INFURIATES ME TO NO FUCKING END
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-
They already consider other religions than Christianity invalid/not real because the Bible.
But the article says devil worship can be considered religion.
That's impossible without getting rid of humans. So not really.
The best idea is to abandon Tennessee and leave it to the hicks it's so famous for. Maybe when every hick realises they can live the life they want in Tennesse, they'll all move there and leave everyone else alone, and the "unapprciated" are always expelled into civilised nations. Win-win.
Of course make sure it's surrounded with nuclear missiles and artillery so they don't get any funny ideas.
Christianity (and all other branches/subcategories/w/e) are bigoted, though. And not just against homosexuality.
So while it's true that you shouldn't automatically assume the worst of someone that is religious, it's not really unfair to associate bigotry with that particular religion, since it is literally built upon a hatred of certain groups and types of people.
Times and views on certain beliefs may be changing, but unless you go and rewrite the bible and revise all of those religious teachings, it's still going to be based off of the same ol' bigoted BS.
But a Persian cat and an Abessynian cat are both cats, regardless of their different evolutionary paths.
I always find it ironic when someone calls a group of people bigots.
I'm Christian and I'm pretty open minded the only thing I don't like are bronies and furries but other than that I don't care if a guys taking it in the butt or whatever the topic at hand is.
That's one thing I never understood about Christianity. People change whatever they want about the religion to suit their own thoughs and such.. yet they keep calling it Christianity...
a Cat is a cat. You can't decide to remove aspect that define it as a cat and still call it a cat. If you change it's DNA to the point it doesnt fit what a cat is.. then don't call it a cat.. it's a new being.
Why do some people call their religion Christinaity when it's not christianity is trully a mystery to me.
PlayfulpanthressMar 3, 2014
+TLCBonaparte No sweetie. The religious that seek to impose your lunacy on others are the dicks. I am merely calling you out on it.
And there is nothing respectable about religion, so what is your point?
TLCBonaparteMar 3, 2014
+Playfulpanthress My point is, I think people can respect other people's opinion even if they don't agree with it. You don't agree with religion, that's fine by me, but that doesn't mean you should insult people who do believe in religion. And yes this applies the other way around too, I don't agree with religious people insulting atheists just because they have different opinion.
PlayfulpanthressMar 3, 2014
+TLCBonaparte " but that doesn't mean you should insult people who do believe in religion." Why not? Their religion causes suffering wherever it goes.
Religious people don't even buy their brand. If you people acknowledge that facts are important in almost all day to day things, why do you need a sky daddy to hold your hand at all?
TLCBonaparteMar 3, 2014
+Playfulpanthress Well, let's continue down your line of thought, if religion causes suffering, then it'd be ok to kill them to stop the suffering right? Then you end up with the same kind of fanaticism faced by religious fanatics.
I am not disagreeing with you that religion sometime are used by crazy people to reinforce their insanity, but this happens to plenty non-religion related beliefs, ultimately sick people do sick things will look for excuses one way or another.
Facts and faith aren't mutually exclusive, you believe in facts but you can also believe in something intangible. Strictly speaking, most things we consider as facts are only cogent, facts in a logic sense are very basic.
PlayfulpanthressMar 3, 2014
+TLCBonaparte Well, Ken Ham, that would be the "logic" of the religious. We normal folk go the route of believe what you want as long as you don't hurt people. And here are some laws to help ensure that.
It is understandable you'd like to say slippery slope, but when people think rationally that little pitfall is easily avoided.
And here is an idea: limit the amount of places the mentally infirm can hide behind violent doctrine allowed by governments. That isn't to say eradicate them, just that they can't whip up their congregations with misinformation and hate as their writings insist but have to preach the love and peace they say they stand for.
You can't actually think that fact and faith can exist together? They are by definition exclusive to each other. One is based in reality and information while the other is baseless hope. They are antithesis to one another. If you have one on a subject you don't have the other, I can't say it more plainly than that.

+Playfulpanthress
If you don't think your belief should hurt people, why are you trying to hurt
Psythr666?
Rationality demands you see the potential danger in regarding people as less than human, which is what you think religious people are. If you think atheists can't be morally wrong then you are the one being irrational. Yes religion can breed fanaticism, but lack thereof doesn't make people infallible.
About fact and faith, Your understanding of fact is very common but also incorrect, Suppose I have a chair, I chop down 1 of its legs, would you still call it a chair? then I chop off the back of the chair, then I carve a hole in the middle, so on and so on, at which point do you think it stops being a chair? There are no definitive answers to most things in life, real facts are deductive, things like modus ponens, and if we base our lives on just facts we proved, we'd be a couple hundred years behind in advancements at the very least. You believe in a lot of things without given proofs of their correctness, nonetheless you accepts them, because human are not by nature critical thinking creatures, and if we do question every information, we'd be thinking all the time. The fact that you categorize religious people in a single category is evidence you are generalizing, which is human brain's response to simplify information for easy access and memory storage.
So you see, everyone have "faith", it doesn't make you any less of a person to believe in something not proven, it just makes you human.
PlayfulpanthressMar 9, 2014
+TLCBonaparte Reality isn't kind, what can I say?
Except unlike you religious nuts, we believe in law. Just because we dislike something we don't declare a jihad on it, like you sheep do.
Who said you were less than human? Your mascot is a sheep, I merely refer to you as such. Also have the intelligence of a sheep as you people do just makes you short bus special. Not subhuman, there is a difference.
And it is very hard to rally people behind you to do the inhumane things religion invokes without said religion. You can get people to kill behind patriotism, but it is harder to keep them doing it, and they don't maim for patriotism like they do religion.
Three legged chair is a broken chair or a stool, but still a chair. Cut a hole in the seat and you have the makings of a toilet. Religion really dulls your imagination, huh?
And no facts are not always deductive. "Nelly is pink. Nelly is an elephant. Nelly is a pink elephant." Makes sense, don't you think?
Uhm, I don't know if you know this, but there is this method that we use before the public can use it. Do you think we build cars without testing them? Rollercoasters, food, or cleaning products? All of these things are tested before they are put into the public sphere.
Perhaps people like YOU don't think critically, but those of us who like to live in reality we think everyday. Thinking keeps you alive. Not thinking has you walking into traffic, playing around cliff edges, cleaning a loaded gun.
And I do lump all religions and the religious together. Every move you make is governed by your lunacy. So while you may not all blow yourselves up, kill abortionists or picket dead soldiers, you do vote. And that causes things like a lack of education, access to health facilities, and a poor environment.
So we are all human, some of us use our brains and think while some, like you use it to beg on your knees to an imaginary friend.

+Playfulpanthress Alexander the Great asked the pirate how dare he molest the sea. “How dare you molest the whole world†the pirate replied. “Because I do it with a little ship only, I am called a thief; you, doing it with a great navy, are called an emperor†This is the essence of law. Law is a set of rules set by a group of people with claim to legitimacy to rule. It's often flawed and riddled with things that are only there to protect the interest of governments, I don't see how blindly believing this the law is any less ignorant than blindly believing in the bible.
You are still not getting the point about the chair. Your definition of what each of these things are, are not definitive, someone can say a chair with a hole in it is still just a chair, since what make a chair is not set by stone, what you consider facts are only opinion.
Nelly is pink, nelly is elephant, nelly is pink elephant is a deductive argument form called conjunction,
Playfulpanthress, I'd like to think I demonstrated ability to think critically more than once during our conversation, I get you need to believe I don't think in order to maintain your belief that all religious people are mindless idiots but if you are a person with critical thinking skills, maybe you should demonstrate it by start questioning that fact.
And please, let's not insult each other, it cheapens the conversation and I'd like to believe atheists don't need to resort to that in order to make their points across.
Another idiot trying to involve religion in government law again.
Hmm, shocker. [S]Seriously, where the fuck is 'seperation of church and state', is that even a thing?[/S]
Glad I'm Atheist, another reason to add to why I'm an anti-theist.
I find nothing wrong with spirituality. Honestly you guys are too harsh towards religious people.
Oh, there's nothing wrong with spirituality. It's just wrong how people use religion.
Some bend it to where it's convenient for themselves, pick and choose what they like to follow, suit it to themselves, then, along with this, impose this will on anyone and everyone around them. I just don't like when people use their beliefs with the belief that there's comes first, because hey, if it's not what I like, then it's not right! It's fine if someone wants to believe in a god or whatever, just hey, don't abuse it, and don't be a dick.
And if I seem like I'm strongly against it, I'm not really strongly against it, I just think the world would be better off without religion. I've just seen how ignorant some people can be with their religion, along with how hurtful they can act towards others. I always imagine believing in god and being religious being about loving and respecting one another, but nope. And I'm pretty sure that without religion, there would be a lot less conflict to worry about. Thus, Anti-theist. (And when I make these statements, yes, I know it's not everyone who is like this, but from what I see, there's QUITE a lot of assholes out there pushing their beliefs on anything with a heartbeat.)
