There are atheists doing the same thing to religious people. Read the quote I made 2 posts back. This lady keeps trying to insult a girl just because she's christian. She tries to tell everyone how mindless religious people are and horrible and make it sound like people who believe in deities are just drones. And I had a long comment chain with her, pretty much laid down all the essential stuffs.
As much as I hate to say it, atheism is a belief, it's not a religion but it's a belief, and it would be wrong to push it onto others just like it would be wrong to push religion onto others.
I find people often cannot see the third option when there is a disagreement. It's not "I win or you win." You don't have to accept their beliefs to respect it. That's what I think both sides need to keep in mind. Respect the differences and we will all be just fine.
I realize that there are Atheists that do the same thing as Christians, and I also realize that I'm biased. I've seen so much bad publicity involving the church, along with seeing idiotic Christians at school, out with friends, and just in life. Along with the fact that out of all the Atheists I've met both in real life and over the internet, I've never met any with that superiority complex that they have to shove in the face of everyone belonging to a religion. (Didn't read any other posts besides OP, and your responses, so didn't see any of your previous posts.)
And while it is said that both parties are guilty of this, it's evident that there is more persecution from the Christian community, in which, is towards Atheists, Ethnicities other then Caucasian, LGBT individuals, hell, even members of other religions. (I don't mean to throw Christians under the bus here, I know it's not everyone, but there is quite a bit of hate.) And frankly, I don't enjoy having people push their beliefs in my face, or the faces of others, which I've seen happen PLENTY of times considering I'm LGBT, along with MANY friends and some family. (While I'm referring to the Christan party, I state, it's not right for ANY individual to do this.) But more importantly (in regards to the topic of Christians), I don't like having people's beliefs being able to LEGALLY interfere with my life, which in this case, is what religion does as it's intertwined in government. I agree, people should be able to just peacefully co-exist, and while there's always gonna be the spoiled bunch in every party, it's crossing the line when someone else's beliefs are forcibly effecting the lifestyle and beliefs of another (The fact that I can't legally be married in the majority of my country, and in most other countries I'd face even more-so severe persecution from religion, along with having more laws to inhibit me, is both frightening and sickening. While I have nothing against religions, and I know this is probably a rather pessimistic portrayal of a religion that is supposed to be very loving, I've seen it first-hand, and while it is only a portion, it still exists. Also, if I seem like I'm cracking down on Christians in general, I'm not, I only dislike the portion previously stated.)
And yes, I know Atheism is a belief, but I never think to myself, 'I believe in Atheism', it's just what comes naturally to me (Since I don't consciously think about being Atheist, I don't really view it as a belief). I just identify as Atheist because I don't see any reason to believe in the existence of a god, both from a logical aspect, and a moral aspect.
TLDR; GIANT WALL OF TEXT.
