[Mabinogi KR] Sword Art Online

Somebody actually posted about this on the Nexon forums before I even looked. I also dont consider SAO "new" foreign content because JP already had it first and people already explained everything that came with it. I never would of checked the KR site had it not been for somebody posting about it on the NX forums. But I guess saying this won't matter as you probably view me as a hypocrite.

Lastly, I dont care if people "check" other websites. Its when they go and spill everything about that update that I hate. But enough offtopicness from me.

As for licensing stuff... does any company even own the IP for SAO in Korea? If not, there's no hurdle for them tto getting this.

It's fairly basic. Aniplex wanted (probably along with a few other studios) to receive licensing for Sword Art Online.

All that means is that Aniplex is allowed to use/sell/distribute Sword Art Online.
*Also people tend to think Aniplex owns the "rights" to Sword Art Online NA. This could be true. That Aniplex NA has decisions regarding all content linked to Sword Art Online within the North American region however they most likely only own the exclusive (only them) permission for the anime.

Mabinogi received Licensing to use sword art online (more specifically whoever manages Mabinogi JP/KR) it wouldn't be nexon or If it was it would be limited to the intended regions & game. With the possibility of extension.

If NA wants to push for getting Sword Art Online then whoever manages should probably contact either the manager for KR/JP in order to gain a connection to speak with whomever handles licensing for Sword Art Online.

Most likely there is also a royalty fee ("rights to use the name" basically) along with a profit cut.

It comes down to how the contract is written. If Aniplex NA owns all rights to content regarding Sword Art Online within the North American region then nexon/mabinogi would need to contact Aniplex NA. If the contract only gives Aniplex NA the rights to produce the anime exclusively (only Aniplex would be allowed to create the anime etc. etc.) then nexon/mabinogi would need to contact the JP Owner of Sword Art Online in order to receive permissions (licensing) to bring Sword Art Online to Mabinogi NA

Yes, KR did get FMA. I can roam around on KR market channel right now and come across several FMA outfits. Herro actually nabbed one I think. There's also a KR promo for it floating around somewhere.

You can buy a preorder coupon for all 4 coupon bags for 28,900 NX atm. However if you try and use it, it'll say wait until May 22nd.

So ya, only thing going on atm is a 25% off preorder period. It will still be available for sale after the 21st but it will be 38,400nx instead so worth getting it early IMO.

KR's version was slightly different than JP's. The titles were not rewarded upon use of card, instead you get the titles when you perform specific actions with specific skill ranks while wearing the associated clothing (so you can like, borrow someone else's equipment). In addition, Edward and Roy's titles also had alternate skill animations for some alchemy skills. For Roy, you snap your fingers. For Edward, you clap then touch the ground.

Of course, KR got this two years ago. If NA ever gets it, they certainly have excellent timing. . .

To be honest I only really care whether or not we get this because the Lizabeth outfit is cute. I doubt Nexon NA is gonna pull the preorder bullshit with us as they've never done so before but eh. I really hope they don't.

SAO as an anime was just a complete and utter disappointment though, the sooner the weeaboos of Mabinogi shut up with the "OMG NEXFAIL Y WE NO GET KAWAII SWORD FART ONLINE?!?! >_________< TT_TT" the better.
