I've been doing point by point forever thinking it's better, but there's a few people I know who say complete is better, so I'm paranoid now.
I remember an old thread that explains this, saying point-by-point has better chances, is that correct?

Point-by-Point

Point by point is always better; if you fail one and lose your blessing, you want to rebless before you repair the next point.

i heard somewhere that a complete repair is like doing each point-by-point at once
so say you repair something with 14 max dura and then end up with only 9 after because it lost it's blessing at some point, then you know what happened
but if you do it point-by-point, you'll not run the risk of that happened

Only do complete repairs on gathering tools with more than 20 dura.

I believe I read they end up being the exact same chance of success per point, but the problem with complete repairs is that unless you have a protection potion on the item it can break more than one point per complete repair. I could be mistaken/have misread though

I would say point-by-point but on the one hand success but on the other, laziness to get the crap repaired and continue on my way.
I always do complete repair and hope for the best. I don't have time to sit there and click through point by point shit, especially for partners thanks to that annoying glitch they have where you have to close the chat and talk to them for each and every point you have to do with them.
Laziness > Risk in my mind. Sorry laziness, I'm risking it :P
I haven't had to replace my gear yet despite all this laziness :chin:
The failure rate isn't as people think it is, or I'm just really lucky for over 3 years >.>

It depends on the item. Point-by-point is always used for my important equipment, especially those items with fast durability loss (cylinders/guns) or low max durability.
I don't give a fuck about repairing each point of an instrument.

I have heard people say this over and over for years and I have repaired point-by-point on my important items as a result, but do you have any proof to backup this claim? Does anyone?

There is no question. Point by point is statistically better, due to the blessing system.

This thread should help explain full repair vs. point by point repair.

The odds are more in one's favor with point-by-point

Point by point is better if you don't have repair prot
With repair prot however, it covers even if your repair fails more than once.
I had this experience with my dowras: I attempted "completely repair" 17 points with the repair protection applied and was only repaired 15 points. BUT the 'prot' protected my failed 2 points, thus making it 15/17. I had to repair again for that 2 points though

Wow, really? didn't know that, and that could potentially save me money.

It's really only worth it on items with >20 dura IMO or stuff like your premier end-game weapon. Even more worth it if you have several NX sellers at your disposal especially with stuff like a Bhafel/Bone Breaker/r1 non pre-reforged crap.
