Teen Cosplayer Assaulted During San Diego Comic-Con

  A teen cosplayer who had been attending Comic-Con in San Diego was attacked, sexually assaulted and left bloody and unconscious on the side of a road early Sunday, according to reports.
  
  Police said late Tuesday that they had arrested a 29-year-old man at the nearby Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, and charged him with sexual contact with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
  
  The suspect has not been identified.
  
  "The victim, a juvenile female, was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment," the Port of San Diego Harbor Police said in a statement posted on G33K-HQ. "This investigation is ongoing."
  
  Earlier in the day, the victim's parents posted a plea for information that was widely circulated on Facebook and Twitter as well as in fan forums and blogs.
  
  The victim, who had been dressed in a creative take on a Roger Rabbit costume, was out with friends on Saturday night but left them after a disagreement, Raw Story reported.
  
  Messages from family and friends posted on social media indicate the victim is currently in the ICU and may be suffering from bleeding in the brain. However, a more recent post on Facebook says "each day she is getting better."
  
  The Huffington Post is not linking to these posts so as to avoid revealing the identity of the victim.
  
  It's not yet clear whether the suspect attended Comic-Con, although the hotel where he was arrested is the event's official headquarters and as a result is popular among attendees.
  
  The assault has led to renewed calls in the cosplay community for a strict and more formal anti-harassment policy at the annual comic book and movie convention. Earlier this week, the group Geeks for CONsent presented a petition calling for a new policy, saying some women -- especially those who attend in costume -- report being being groped, harassed and insulted.

  First saw it on tumblr and thought maybe it was fake, now that I see it isn't, I hope this girl wakes up and they learn the whole story.

  I could have sworn she already woke up, but that they were letting her rest or something. I remember reading on one of the like, 20 places this story popped up about how she said that they had consensual sex (though still illegal due to her being a minor). So I'm wondering how it went from consensual sex to beating her half to death and leaving her to die.
  
  On an semi-related note, I don't really consider cutting off most of the clothes and all identifying features of the character so you can run around half naked to be a "creative take" on a character.

  Might be a cover up so people aren't mad over her wanting sex. Or maybe the old version is fake. No one knows.
  
  Either way, as for the cosplay part, I'm with Nithiel. But I think that's the effect it was supposed to have.

  If enough people had had sex with under-18 girls on 9/11 it would have overshadowed the whole plane hijacking thing.

  I'm not saying the outfit was the cause of the attack. I'm just saying as a side note, that this is not how a 15 year old should be dressing.

  My theory is this: She wanted to sleep with the guy, and she was dressed like an adult so he went for it, then after sex he found out she was underage, freaked out about getting arrested for statutory rape and tried to dispose of the 'evidence'.

  Age of consent laws are bullshit, 15 year olds can consent to sex which also means that they can dress how they want
