Some people are way too focus on Reforges being OP, when they really aren't for your every day leveling runs. Elemental reforges only work in HM/Elite/Martial Art, which is just turning that OHKO to OHKO by a lot of damage over.
As for the other reforges, some of their uses are pretty good, but it isn't like it is super major advantage over the people who don't use reforges.
Reforges don't really benefit all that much like some people claim them to be for the current easily accessible content.

Actually I played the game for free for years after just buying one mount, and quite frankly I think the penalties aside from rebirthing were completely superficial. You could always create alternate characters for extra space, or even just focus on good inventory management skills. I'll thank you to save your countless accusations about me, this isn't about me.
As for beginners, although they have lots of crazy benefits, I can't say the game quality has improved for them. Rather than making the game particularly beginner friendly, they've really only made it beginner easy. Most new players I help are lost sheep, they have no idea about how the combat system works or what they're supposed to be doing. I can't tell you how many people I've had to sit down with and explain the leveling and rebirthing system to among other systems like Talent, Knockback, Stats, Skills, and so forth. I never see basic or intermediate shadow mission parties getting filled, and very rarely advanced. Making gold for a beginner is harder than ever, unless they use countless accounts for events or spend real life money on the game to satisfy other people's wants. As for free inventory, most new players have a 8x6 shop bag at most. If new players want medium bags, luxury equipment bags, or item-specific bags, then they need to spend money or a healthy amount of gold which they likely don't have.
Now back to monetization, the argument is still flawed. To be clear, if the montezation is targeted at high-level or power-hungry players then why doesn't the game accommodate them? You seem to feel like you just had some kind of victory over the filthy hardcore scum. In reality, it's almost assuredly gachas that provide NA Mabinogi's main source of revenue. In addition most reforges are actually bought by low-level players and then sold to high-level players as a means to make non-chanced gold. You musn't try to simplify things so much.
As to why I think the game is easier now, I'll list a few reasons:
-Talents give players additional stats with no cost
-Stats give players far more additional benefits
-Players can load skills instantly but monsters can not, players can load magic and alchemy skills at a much accelerated rate
-Damage formulas have been changed to produce more damage and skill effects have been changed to be more generous
-Weapons with higher damage have been steadily released
-Reforges are available
-Special upgrades are available, dual-weilding, and countless new skillsets with far more generous effects have become available for play
-Players can get AP at a rate of at least 10x what was originally available while utilizing weekly rebirths, it is much faster than even that with daily rebirths
-Summon Pets are available
-Stats available have skyrocketed
To simply blame it on any one, two, three, or even four of these points would be silly. There's dozens of things I didn't mention as well, but you get the idea. Updates have made it so that a level 1 character can be as strong as an endgame character from the past. Many people think this means a beginner or casual gamer will have a better experience, but the most direct result from this is that players tend to solo things far more and be less willing to help or party with others.

Well that's par for the course for
any mmorpg. I don't think any mmorpg fully tells you the correct course of action or full details on how their game works. Just to name a few ways the game has improved for new players: talent system has cut skill training in half, moon gates/ mana tunnels are always active and no longer random, free flying and land mount which eliminates the barrier of entry I was talking about, homesteads have made a personal piece of land and made herb gathering far easier on top of other stuff, and free inventory plus.

I'm sorry I have no idea what you're talking about how its harder to make gold than ever. The game in fact does give you a free medium sized bag in one of the beginner quests that can be used along side a 8x6 bag.

I don't know where you got that impression since
I am one of the filthy hardcore scum I am supposedly attacking.

I've never denied the game is easier. About the fact that players are not joining as many parties as they used to, well I don't think that is exactly true. Ok, there used to be a time where every player flocked to ciar and you can pretty much always get into a party of 8. Then Taillean SMs came out and a huge chunk of players have moved to Tail but some players still preferred dungeoning, but anyone at tail can pretty much always get a full party. Than Tara came out and the shadow mission runners split into two camps. Then TMs came out, then elites, then commercing, then lords, then daily saga SMs etc etc. Its not a matter of the fanbase becoming too unwilling to help each other, its just that there used to be only a handful of things to do in this game that level you up and so the player base all flocked together at the same place. But there is now a myrid of things to do in this game that each cater to player tastes. People who are sick of SMing all the time are now forming commerce parties, or peaca abyss parties, Martial Arts TM parties, outlaw hunting, doing daily sagas etc. Its a strange thing to realize that updates and improvements to a game actually works
against a game and I agree it's sad that it is harder to find people for a specific method of exp now. But on the other hand more avenues of play does in fact add to the "do anything you want" pitch the game has.

The new saga quests (G18~ish) are repeatable which was a good idea, but giving them daily AP wasn't; players feel obligated to do these every day but rushing through the same generation quest every day isn't enjoyable.
This part stuck out the most.
Eiry has been trying to get a Triona medal since Saga came out.
Combined every single trans medal. Not a single Triona.
Saga is now the most boring thing on the planet.
Not that it wasn't already.
Yet, Eiry has to do it every stupid day for another stupid medal for another stupid Guildenstern trans.

sad
how everyone take the game from the power side
but i guess that's how mabinogi still survives, people hungry for reforges
i always gather some gold and tell myself "okay i'll buy a bunch of reforge kits and try some r1 weapons i got" and then i use the gold on some silly items.
But know what, i don't regret it, all i can see here is people bored of the game, and bored of the players on it, i would say bored of the whole game and all related to it, but i don't, my damage is mediocre, i have great enchants, capped stats, but i lack of reforges, so my damage isn't that high as many of you, but that makes the game more challenging to me, besides puppets, i don't pull out a godly damage, and i have to use an armor to survive most of the time, mostly cause the lag.
Mabinogi has changed, that's for sure, i agree with the game being less like a chess game, and more like a who has the best AoE/dps, but it's still fun if you socialize, some people complain about those old good times that are gone, but they are the ones to blame... why?
Did you visit Tir lately? not now with all the ninja hype, but the last year, i do, and i can tell you, people around a campfire playing random songs DO EXIST.
Mabinogi has changed, and so does MN, now it's full of greedy power-hungry people, just like the game, it just shows how the game changes, and changes a part of you as well, maybe the reason i don't come here so often anymore, while i'm even more active on the game than before (not the last weeks due to health issues).
About mabi being anime-ish, i don't think we should worry too much, we should worry about the lack of new content :/
but as i read on some articles, it seems like we will get some real new content after all.....

I think a lot of the changes have made players more rushed and grind-oriented, but not power hungry. Players have always wanted to be the strongest.
