Meet Oliver, Nation. [x He was dumped out of a car on the highway here and someone saw and took him to a local rescue. He's about four months old.

Oh..right. =D
I'm pretty excited about the car, but I'm more excited about afternoon naps with Oliver since he likes to cuddle.

Pretty nice considering most people's first car looks like this

Unless they have loaded parents of course.

not really, car loans are pretty easy to get
if you can put down around a grand on a used car you usually can have payments around $300 or so until you pay it off

I was raised by a single mother who struggled for a long time to even buy me school supplies or make sure we had enough money for food. In recent years our situation has improved greatly however. I wouldn't say we're loaded by any means, if anything we're still recovering from my own medical costs, but we can afford what would be considered luxuries to others every so often with a bit of saving and a frugal lifestyle.
I work in a local law office doing secretary work part time, and have saved enough to be able to go 50/50 on car payments with my mom as well as the downpayment. What Hanna said is correct.
I'm transferring to a larger university, and while it's still possible to take the bus as I have been doing, it's much more convenient for work and other things to have a car, especially with possible internships next year.
:llama_anxious: Now I need to go get my license.

Apparently people that know that exists are a minority. Everyone I knew in highschool either had loaded parents or their first car looked like what I posted. Lol. But seeing as you're not in high school, yeah.
You're the only person I know other than me who had to wait this long after high school to get their first car, lets start a club. <3

Oliver is so cute, I'm jealous Mew >:C. I still need to get my own license...which won't happen anytime soon because I go back to school next Sunday. That and I need to get a car myself. [S]You should've named him after your old name Mew, I am disappointed.[/S]

.
Sounds how i was raised. That's why i can save so much money.
Except less single mother, and more excessive blue collar overtime.

Getting a car loan is very easy even for someone without much of a credit background as long as you can prove you have some sort of income. Minimum wage will even do as long as they're consistent hours that you can show the bank through your paystubs.
Small cars from all common lines start at around 14~15k. Of course, you don't necessarily need a brand new car. There are plenty of reliable used cars around 4k, which you can very easily get approved for.
I get that getting a job is a bit difficult without a car, but if you can somehow muscle through finding one, getting a loan approved within a month of being employed should be doable.

Grats on the new cat/car. lol
The cat looks cool. The car is a Toyota Corolla, I assume? Fairly safe choice, if so. \o/
I still have no car. :| I don't really need one, so I haven't been in a hurry to get one. And at this point, I fear that if I were to choose a car to buy, I would pick one like I pick computer parts... which is something that my savings would not appreciate. e.e
