Hey Guys,
It seems there's a discussion going on for a possible Mabinogi update according to my friend. Apparently they plan to address the ten year issues of disconnecting from a dungeon and shadow mission and allowing people who disconnected to reconnect to the dungeon/shadow mission.
Supposedly the plan is that once a missing member has logged in within 5 minutes, they will have the option of sending a rejoin message to the party leader and the party leader can accept them. The person will then teleport immediately to the beginning of the dungeon/shadow mission and rejoin the party.
The key point is that if everyone in the dungeon/shadow mission disconnects, then the dungeon/shadow mission is forfeit, but as long as one person is in there, it will exist.
Now the question is how do they plan to enforce this. What if a person disconnects, and the party leader changes the number from like 6->5 making the "party full" how would this work?
How would generational objectives like Baol G3 which requires the party leader or story starter to be there? What if he d/c?
What is to prevent someone from "disconnecting" and then going to get heal/buy pots and then returning back?
i am interested to see how this will continue. Hopefully we will get official news about it once they gone through it thoroughly.

No solution for solo play? D:

Because if you were able to pick up where you dropped off, the penalty of not completing that mission would be pointless.
I mean, I know disconnecting sucks for solo plays, but they can't really do much since they don't have a definite way of telling whether or not the solo player disconnected for real or simply logged out.

I'd rather see them make dungeons worth doing.

Well Kene the issue with changing party sizes would be that if a player disconnects, the leader cannot change the size until 5 minutes is up.

Was thinking about same. Edit: That, or keep a "ghost member" in party, which should disallow reducing party size below required minimum to join.
As for breaking connection to buy potions, I guess it should either disallow interacting with anything before answering the question about rejoining, or make it impossible to rejoin in case you left lobby/traded/etc.
Baol and similar dungeons should be able to continue, but will probably fail when entering boss room in case that story starter is not present, or just forcefully eject everyone after the 5 minutes have passed.

Or just you can't change party size while in dungeon/mission

1. Doesn't it not let you modify stuff like this while not in a shadow mission? If not they could simply restrict that, like how they restrict the ability to create and disband parties in shadow missions
2. I don't even remember what baol g3 is sorry :(
3. You could be required to give a response to the message before you're able to control your character.
Dragon nest does this for some instances, and it's fucking amazing. It really has saved my ass multiple times. The benefits outweigh the possible cons of abuse, in my opinion

It's a good idea but we need a solo version too. Just don't let the player do anything before saying yes or no to being placed back into the dungeon or mission.
It can even be a popup at character select.

They could just persist the solo player's instance for 5 minutes after disconnecting or crashing, and then give the option to rejoin upon logging in again. I'm sure this update will help, but when I read the title I was hoping for something else.
