What would you have wanted to know as a Beginner?

  Ever since this whole Anime Summer Event, I've noticed more newer players (mostly around Tir) - at least on the Mari server.
  
  Which got me thinking, how does Mabinogi start off newer players? So I made a new account and decided to go through the beginner's quests. While the free bags and 500 free AP is nice - beyond that ... Mabinogi does not do a good job introducing the various systems that exist in the game. Even the systems that the beginner quests talk about - are sometimes loaded with inaccurate information (e.g Part Time Jobs and Moon Gates).
  
  Average users of Mabination may have eventually figured out how most of Mabinogi works, but not all people reach that level of understanding. Some people quit beforehand, while others have not bothered to learn at all.
  
  Although I agree that directing people to the Mabinogi wiki is a good thing, I also recognize that people sometimes need personal instruction and guidance. Not many people will understand the Commerce system just by reading the wiki page. Rather, I believe that information needs to be joined together with actual gameplay (i.e a tutorial) - in order create understanding.
  
  
  Using the Game System page as a guide, I've written down some Mabinogi concepts that I believe beginners (newbies) should learn about.
  
  - Talents (2x Training EXP, Which skills are important)
  - Moon Gates & Mana Tunnels
  - Combat Tactics (Beyond what the Beginner's Board has available)
  - Part Time Jobs (Mostly focusing on Holy Water)
  - Getting Exploration EXP
  - Durability & Repairing ([S]Don't repair at Fergus, basically[/S])
  - Proficiency & Upgrades
  - Enchants
  - Reforges
  - Scam Prevention
  - Parties & Guilds (How to make a party, Production Parties)
  - Homesteads
  - Dungeons & Shadow Missions (Shadow Missions that are good for training/gold/leveling)
  - Daily Quests (Adventurer Seals)
  
  
  This is what I've gotten so far, so I wanted to ask ...
  
  TL;DR What do you know about Mabinogi now that you wish you knew back when you were just starting the game?
  
  Any input would be appreciated, also feel free to dispute anything I may have on the list. I want to get a wide variety of responses.

  [UB]I would have wanted to know many things which I'll list. Since I didn't know them when I started, I've made quite a few mistakes.
  
  1.Mana Reflector lv3 existed.
  Seriously. Why did no one tell me to WM a zombie in TNN instead of spamming icebolt a hundred times?
  2. I should have known how great armor was early game. Instead, being the idiot that I was, I used clothing for mana reduction.
  3. Shields could be equipped with wands.
  Yeah, I didn't know. It explains why I was so squishy. I didn't use armor or shields early game.
  4. Hebona set suck.
  I found this out recently thanks to nation. Technically, this wasn't when I was a beginner, but still is relevant. Wasted a ton of money on reforging and replacing destroyed/damaged gear from enchants.

  Oh! That's important - enemy passive defenses. I remember playing as a mage and having extreme trouble against Golems for that exact same reason.

  Ah yes, even a weak shield is better than nothing - that's very important to remember for magicians. Hmmmm.

  My only two questions were:
  -Why so laggy?
  -Why are 99% newbs stupid, only frequently charging head-first with a normal attack and not loading any skill.
  
  Back then there were some basic things to understand about MapleStory, and after that I easily adapted to Mabinogi. I'll admit I did struggle in some areas, like Trolls and Ogres.

  MMO games are mostly experimentation and common sense. Did you literally icebolt zombies 100 times?

  [UB]Unfortunately, yes. As a pure mage with absolutely no melee skills, I did not even attempt a melee attack. Looking back from now, I feel incredibly stupid. I ended up with a 0 durability on my wand, but I kept spamming bolt after bolt.

  Erinn's geography is pretty confusing, I think. There are many things you can't see on maps, yet the game expects you to know where they are. I remember one of my very first quests (for Mirage Missile) required finding an item "somewhere in Connous." After an hour of studying the map carefully, zooming in and out I gave up, unable to figure where the fuck Connous is.

  Ctrl+click lets you use items in your inventory without right clicking and lets you buy items in bulk from NPCs. All that time man, all that time. Shortcuts like these would've been useful when I was a little newb.

  I totally had the same experience when I first went to Iria. I was like - "Where the hell is Connous?"

  This isn't a matter of trying to have newbies fit one particular build or playstyle, it is more of showing them everything that Mabinogi has to offer them.

  Correct, except for the fact that some scams are Mabinogi-specific.
  
  For example, even though I knew how to create and build stuff on my Homestead ... I never knew about the ability to expel people until about 3 months ago. I have had no need to, but others can abuse that expel function during drop trades.
  
  And I personally think reminders about being vigilant are a good thing :llama_whistle:

  Assuming I were new to mabi as of today I'd like to know about dragon raids. Mainly desert and prairie since even with crap damage if you just smash it and pay attention you can earn good exp and gold for a newbie. Would not waste time trying to do anything else.

  It's not quite what I would have wanted to know, but what I would have wanted to have. It's stupidly easy to level up now, I remember getting to lvl 30 per rebirth. And no, not lvl 30/x. There was no exploration.
  
  It's ridiculously easy to level up now, not to mention ridiculously easy to make gold.

  You misunderstood.
  
  There are a lot of features in the game that isn't mentioned in the beginner tutorial, but opens up as you go through the story and explore the world.
  
  It would seem like that is what the developers of the game intended.
  
  Mabinogi isn't a linear develop MMORPG like a lot of modern MMORPG nowadays.

  Most people don't even go to Field Bosses. WM is being used less and less when there are so much different ways to attack a monster now, and deal with multiple monsters at a time.
