Hello there! Glad to meet you! Welcome to the Mabination Pokémon League! My name is Samuel Oak. People often refer to me as the Pokémon Professor. My world is inhabited far and wide by creatures known as Pokémon.

For some people, Pokémon are pets. Other use them for battling. We call these people Pokémon Trainers. As for myself… I study Pokémon as a profession.
However, I discovered that your world doesn't have any Pokémon! So I've asked my colleague Bill to think up a way to allow you to have the ability to be able to experience Pokémon without actually having any. After months of trial and error, he has finally come up with a place where you can simulate Pokémon battles with other people around the globe. He was even kind enough to provide a manual for those that are unfamiliar with this new system.
In the world I'm from, the best Pokémon Trainers gather around and compete in a tournament to show who is truly a Pokémon Master. But to qualify for the tournament, each trainer must challenge and defeat eight gyms and their leaders to collect their badges as proof they are worthy of participating.
However, since there are no established gyms in this world, Trainers will instead have to battle each other on the road to the final tournament. Those who have shown certain skill during these trials will be invited to the tournament. Of everybody I have met during my time in this world, there are fourteen individuals who show great potential, and I'm sure that they will be able to make it to the tournament, regardless of the challenges they face.
However, to keep things fair for all Trainers, I have reviewed many trends in battles, as well as abilities of Pokémon, and decided that everyone will compete at what I call Over Used, which, with exceptions, bans the use of what are dubbed as "Legendary Pokémon". It also keeps Trainers from exploiting the relatively defenselessness of sleeping Pokémon, using moves that, if it lands, instantly causes an opponent's Pokémon to faint. It also will prevent Trainers from making their Pokémon hard to hit.
On your journey to the top, you'll undoubtedly be challenged by Trainers not participating in the Pokémon League (noted by the large "!" that will appear on your profile page). Being official participants in the League, you have the right to refuse these challenges, however, should you accept these challenges, and prove successful, you will be rewarded money for your victory by the other trainer. Should you lose, you can just show your identification stating that you're a Trainer of the Pokémon League, and you won't end up having to pay money to the winning trainer.
You may also change out what Pokémon to use for each battle, at least until the tournament starts. This will allow you to not only choose how to train your Pokémon, but also increase your skill as a Trainer, by being able to adapt to different situations on the fly. For the tournament, however, you will only be able to use one Pokémon team. In the Pokémon World, the Trainers that completed the Pokémon League challenge are allowed to challenge four of the best Trainers in the world. However, once they agree to challenge the Elite 4, they are not allowed to leave until either they defeat the Elite 4, or they themselves are defeated. This means that they can't get their Pokémon healed between battles, nor can they access the PC to change around their team. While we are using a simulation, so the Pokémon will be healed up after each battle of the tournament, the idea of picking your favorite Pokémon and taking them to the top will still be enforced.
After showing your skills as a Trainer, you might even grab the attention of some of the gym leaders from my world who will be interested in challenging you to a battle. Again, you have the right to refuse their challenge, but I hear that if you beat them, you might be able to earn a special prize. You can tell when a gym leader challenges you, because I will issue a formal challenge to you through a private message in place of the leader. However, you won't know who your opponent is until the scheduled time agreed upon by both parties.
At the end of September, the first Mabination Pokémon Tournament will begin! As I have said, in order to qualify for the tournament, you will need to battle other official Trainers. After an official battle has been issued by the Pokémon League, you will be given until the start of the tournament to meet up with your opponent, battle with them, and provide video evidence of the battle by providing the link that you get after the battle is finished, for review and broadcasting purposes. Official Trainers may battle each other as many times as they please for sparring purposes, but only the first match that they have that has been officially announced will count, and will be the one that must be presented before the Pokémon League.
Earlier, I have said that there were fourteen Trainers who have great potential to make it to the tournament. These Trainers are certainly ones that you want to keep an eye on as things progress.

There will also be prizes presented by the Pokémon League to the four Trainers that make it to the semi-finals.
The Trainer that receives the bronze medal, or comes in fourth place will receive a $10 gift card of his or her choosing. The silver medalist, or third place winner, will receive a $25 gift card of his or her choosing.
The gold medalist, meaning the Trainer that came in second, will receive a copy of the upcoming game Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS, which I hear is a very anticipated game, which includes some Pokémon.
And the Champion of the Mabination Pokémon League, the first place winner, will take home the mythril medal, as well as a copy of Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS, as well as a $50 gift card of his or her choosing.
I will announce the first matches on the second, and will continue to announce matches every other day.

The rules for the tournament will be as follows:
1. Each trainer that qualifies must present to me a roster of 8 Pokemon they will use for the entirety of the tournament. They can build any combination of teams that consist of 6 of those 8 Pokemon for their matches. However, if a trainer uses a Pokemon that isn't registered to them, they will automatically be disqualified from the tournament, and their current opponent will automatically advance to the next round.
2. Every round, with the exception of the championship round, will be best two out of three. The championship match will be a best of five.
3. Unlike normal tournaments, the low seeds will be getting byes for the first round of the tournament. This way, they have better chances of getting further into the tournament. While this event was meant to focus more on building community and not on winning the prizes, I wouldn't exactly call it "fair" for the people who have little skill in the Pokemon meta game to go up against the people who have shown to have a better skill level with it in the first round and have no chance of advancing, even before the tournament starts. I'm sure a lot people feel the same way where they won't have any fun if they know that they're going to lose.
4. Because we'll be having our matches procedurally, instead of all at once so that we can stream each match, Trainers will only have two minutes to pick their moves.
Each trainer will get three warnings in each match if they go over two minutes. After the third warning, the player forfeits that current match automatically. Please make sure that you take care of things (bathroom, snack, etc) before your matches, and if you know that you are going to be away for an extended period of time, please let everyone know ahead of time, as well as about how long it will be before you're done, so that we can rotate things around while you take care of whatever it is that you're doing (dinner, walking dog, etc.). We'll try our best to accommodate your schedule, but remember that there are eleven other people that will be waiting for you, and will probably also need to have to stop for a while for dinner themselves.
5. Please follow Mabination's rules, whether you're watching the live stream, of if you're in the Skype call if you're going to be doing voice work. While this may not be an "officially sanctioned" event, it is for the Mabination community, so you should be able to at least follow this site's rules.
