Well thats the thing im relying on an str and int combo for the guns. The amazing Int will cover my lack of str. thats why i sctapped carpentry because i rather go for int skills. problem is gping mage cannot happen, i have no means of getting int Im barely geyting FB as it is. so even if IS and thunder are more OP i just cannot get them saddly.
my way old plan was fighter mage but will seems pointless
Actually, thunder is a lot easier to get than fireball. It's only 5, non-expiring pages, the only hard one being pg4. In terms of raw stats for gunner, (int+str) elves are the worst. Elves have 9 more int than humans, which isn't much. This doesn't mean they suck though, it just means that Giants are the best gunners.
Don't worry about getting int from intermediate magic yet. Most of your early int comes from bolts. You can get ~500 int without int or adv magic if I recall correctly.

Now that I think of it, getting fireball first wasn't such a bad idea. You could do a fireball/firebolt/blaze fighting style, which is[S] pretty good[/S] amazing in terms of damage. It was suggested to me when I was confused on my path, as well.
If I were in your situation, I would do the following:
1. Get a Savage Fire Wand* and a r1 Phoenix Fire Wand** (Yes, you need both) (Use wand + shield, and heavy armor, which will remove that squishy factor) and upgrade them for CC4 and speed casting respectively.
2. Focus on Firebolt, Fireball, Fire Mastery, Magic Mastery, and Magic Weapon Mastery.
3. Work on other bolts and masteries as 2nd priority and for int.
3.5 If my funds allow, I would buy books to rank Musical Knowledge and Composing to r9 for power spike.
3.75 Get Master of Fire, or Magic Weapon Master (preferred) title and use it.
4. Use Fire magic oriented fighting style to kill everything. (meaning Fireball if you have 10 seconds to spare, and CC firebolt any other time. If Fireball, it's possible to use charge (skill) to get close to an enemy (and ESC to cancel before impact) and to knock them into (with normal attacks, or blaze) fireball if they're not in the radius. If CC firebolt is wrecking my bank(trust me, it will. CC4 FB drains dura and mana fast), then I'd use fusion bolt (very versatile) with the speed wand)
4.5 s3/s5 wands, if funds allow.
5. Obtain other int and adv magic and rank them.
*It's possible to use a normal fire wand, but savage fire wands are superior, as it can receive BOTH the CC upgrade and artisans upgrade. It also doesn't cost extra MPs to use CC. Spirit fire wand is also an option, but realistically, it'll cost you a lot more to make.
** r1 is preferred, as it will save you a ton of money later on. Buy both wands from player shops, venders don't sell savage wands, and normal wands cost more from NPCs.
Savage Wands provide bonus to blaze, and blaze is very useful, even in party play. If your party mate smashes /magnums, firebolt, or wm, simply stand behind the target and charge blaze, and release when the monster is knocked down. Do note that damage is insane (so is mana usage if you do it on every mob), and that this usually won't be necessary unless it's a boss.
Note that any fighting style that involves magic will drain MP like crazy. You should start a mana herb homestead (by robbing someone else's homestead for herbs and creating your own patches of mana herbs) Meditation will help, but not exactly that much.
EDIT: Also, your original plan was to be a fighter mage? That's very possible, you know. Magic has strong AoE, and fighter has decent 1v1 damage (CC FB will do more DPS, but meh, do whatever you want.) You could do fighter after magic, and use champion knuckles, b/c Merlins Knux are overrated. [/UB]
