Being gone so long has a disadvantage...I have no idea what equips and such to look for. So here are my questions:

Assume all 'best' is for magic damage priority and if I need to I might make 2 sets. 1 with icespear in mind and the other with fire.

1. Best Talent, title and secondary title for mage.

2. Best Accessories (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

3. Best Headgear/helm (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

4. Best Gloves, I have rosemary currently (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

5. Best boots (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

6. Best armor/clothing (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

7. Best Icespear Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

8. Best Fireball/Firebolt Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

9. Best Thunder Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

10. Best Staff (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

11. Best Shield/book (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

I hardly play anymore so I don't know if it's still true, but best title combo for m-att would be meteor master + ALO Asuna, comes out to +90 if I remember correctly.

ALO Asuna was from an event, but the title coupons should be tradeable and I'm sure someone on your server stashed one away to take advantage of high selling prices in the future (or maybe the person playing on your account got it).

Best headgear is probably Languhiris Chaser Circlet .

There aren't that many great magic enchants, so the ones I listed are for crit and max damage (better than matk ones cuz they suck too much).

1. Like what Osay said, Meteor Strike + ALO Asuna would be the best (+90 MATK).
2. For Accessories, you can reforge for magic attack lv 3 (+12 matk) and/or blaze damage. There's a ton of prereforged r1 acc floating around, but if you have a crap ton of money, then doing it on high roll purple hearts would be good, although a waste of money imo. Enchants don't really make a big difference for magic, but Arcane/Oblivion/Fixed/Surprising Sonnet/Swarming are good options.
3. Langu Circlet would be the best, like what Second said. However, that's a royal pain to get, and an option just as great would be to buy a prereforged r1 wig and reforge it for bolt/fire/ice mastery. For enchants, Vine/Oblivion Dexterity/Clever.
4. Rosemaries are the best right now. For reforges, blaze explosive damage and or ice spear explosive. Enchants: Oblivion/Solo/Classic Elegent/Camo/Assault.
5. Fleet Feet are a very very good option right now. The movement speed is incredably helpful for stuff like blaze. I can't think of any good reforges for shoes though. As for enchants, Oblivion/Solo Hawk/Butterfly. If you're interested in a mana reduction set, the a x-graded karis shoes would work.
6. There are some NPC clothing that are prereforged, and have restored/white horse of them. Reforge for hailstorm and/or blaze radius. Karis suit for mana reduction. For enchants, Special/Encore/Restored Ambush/camo/White horse works. Royal Knight is great for auto def, but it's heavy armor.
7. s6 Engineer's/Arcane/Lizard Island Savage Ice Wand (Max crafting rolls, and artisan's) reforged for matk lv20 with a Holy Eagle Mask with matk 5lvs.
8. Same as above, but with a Fire Savage Wand. A phoenix firewand with the same reforges/enchants would be helpful due to speed bonus.
9. Same as 7, but with a Savage Lightning Wand.
10. Divine Staff from the new raid. r6/s6, Similar to above (matk 20/casting speed 20), but the best suffix would be "Used".
11. Holy Eagle Mask with lv5 Matk reforge.

EDIT: I forgot about fire ego wands. They're the best wands for firebolt, assuming you're past lv~29-30 str on it. A double reforge, Firebolt Max Dmg and Casting speed would be the best option. Also, pair it up with a holy eagle mask with lv5 matk reforge.

Warrior talent (active), otherwise you'll cap INT too easily and the extra STR is useful for guns, defense or character screen damage for better overture bonus. Best grandmaster is Bard due to the increased duration and effect to overture. Best title combination is Meteor Strike Master + ALO Asuna for magic damage or Magic Weapon Master + Merlin for hybrid damage.

2. Best Accessories (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.
For strictly magic the reforge is all that matters, ideally you want Magic Attack Lv 3 for versatility or Blaze Damage Lv 3 cause blaze is all the magic you really need anyway. The enchants should be max damage (Oblivion Swarming/Avenger/Fierce), since max damage is the most useful stat.

3. Best Headgear/helm (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.
You COULD listen to everyone else and get a 10+ langu circlet with ice or bolt mastery reforge for some minimal damage gains.... Or you could get a chinese dragon helmet (Oblivion Dex) with Act 6: Crisis lv 18+ reforge and do sick ice spear -> blaze combos and then clean up with guns 10x faster and feeling a lot cooler.

4. Best Gloves, I have rosemary currently (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.
You want (any) gloves with Blaze damage lv 18+ and again, enchanted for max damage (Solo Difficult) because again, blaze is the magic that matters and max damage is the most useful stat. Unenchanted rosemaries with IS Explosion 15+ are nice for grinding shyllien if you have premium service, if not then don't even bother and put the rosemaries away.

5. Best boots (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.
Solo Hawk/Camo/Butterfly Fleet Feet. Why? Because it makes you run faster and that's about the most useful set effect you can get. Reforge doesn't matter, but Raincast cooldown decrease may suit your build.

6. Best armor/clothing (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.
There are two choices, the tanky one and the +speed one for gun hybrid.
Boiling Champion (again, max damage is what matters) Royal Knight Armor will give you tanky.
Boiling Champion Chaser armor will give you a little tanky and +speed for gun hybrid.
The most useful reforge for magic is Blaze Explosion Radius. Battlefield Overture duration or whatever else suits your build are fine too, there's not much to choose from.

7. Best Icespear Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.
Mana Needle Island Savage Ice Wand. Magic Attack lv 18+ reforge. More importantly, you will be using this to blaze.

8. Best Fireball/Firebolt Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.
Ego firewand. That's about it, but firebolt isn't really as good as some people think it is. The best fireball wand is the blaze wand in the point above, since you just cast fireball with any casting speed wand and then switch to the ice wand for impact.

9. Best Thunder Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.
None. Thunder is an outdated skill, but a hermit staff is good if you really must.

10. Best Staff (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.
Hermit Staff or Staff of Original Sin. Artisan upgrade might be bad if you cap int too easily, and enchant/reforge wise the most practical and useful is Mana Needle Island with Magic Attack/Casting Speed 18+. Doesn't matter much though, since magic metagame revolves around a savage ice wand (blaze).

11. Best Shield/book (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.
Holy eagle mask. But only because you can reforge it for Magic Attack lv 5. If you don't plan to reforge, then doesn't really matter what you use.

[UB]Languhiris chaser circlet. Contrarty to what Kelvas said, it's not THAT hard to make. In fact, it's the easiest out of all Languhiris chaser set to make. Oblivion Dexterity for the damages, and as for reforge, there are many you can do, and I personally don't think ice/lightning mastery is worth it. Reason? You simply won't use those skills a lot enough to justify the reforges. Fire mastery is justifiable because firebolt. But other than those, I'd aim for way of the gun duration 20, because with the set I'm about to suggest to you, you'd probably end up doing gunner as well, which has high synergy with high int.[/UB]

4. Best Gloves, I have rosemary currently (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

[UB]Rosemary gloves are great. It shines especially when you want to farm the shylien reserves with IS. For enchants, you should aim for Solo Backbreaking, but since the suffix is a pain to get (raids derping and enchant being rare in the first place), you can always use camo as a suffix for the gloves[/UB]

5. Best boots (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

[UB]Fleet feet can work, but I'd rather use them for commerce. Because I mentioned Languhiris chaser circlet, I'm just gonna go ahead and mention the boots as well. I'd put Solo Viscount, because of the attack speed enhancement, which you'll find really good for gunner. For reforges, I'd say movement speed 5 or shooting rush damage 20 is good.[/UB]

6. Best armor/clothing (Enchants, reforges, crafting?) for mage.

[UB]Languhiris Chaser Armor. I'm saying this because you'll get a heavy shaft with balance with heavy armor, nor do you really need the defense from it. This piece alone gives 4 attack speed, so this is the most vital piece of your gear. You should reforge it for battlefield overture duration or blaze radius, although neither are necessary but still will be helpful. For enchants, you should aim for Innocent/Boiling Champion. If, by a rare chance, you come up on a Knocking enchant from one of the Lord missions, use that instead for prefix.[/UB]

7. Best Icespear Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

[UB]Savage Ice Wand. It will also be your blaze stick. You can have Mana needle for prefix for simplicity and Island for suffix. MA 20 would be the thing you want to go to. The answer will be the same for lightning. Also, note that fireball and thunder isn't really in a good place right now, and probably not worth investigating much for.[/UB]

8. Best Fireball/Firebolt Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

[UB]Fireball: Savage Fire Wand, but not really worth the investment.

Firebolt Wand: Ego fire wand. As for reforge, you want to go for Casting speed 20, MA 20, or Firebolt max damage 20.[/UB]

9. Best Thunder Wand (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

10. Best Staff (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

[UB]None other than hermit's staff. You can use Mana Needle Used for enchants. For reforges, I'd say MA 20. You could argue for the new G19 staff, but you can already achieve 1.5k int with hermit's staff.[/UB]

11. Best Shield/book (Enchants, reforges, crafting, upgrades?) for mage.

[UB]Holy Eagle Mask with level 5 MA reforge. If you can't get that, just grab yourself a Rebis Guard Cylinder.[/UB]

Fascinating. Magic has changed a lot but it sounds almost like its back to the old days of original blaze. I remember when blaze first came out. Soloed so many hard things with that. Thank you all very much, just the answers I was looking for.

EDIT: Any cool combo cards worth getting to compliment all this?

I'm not the most experienced at magic, but I don't think magic gets that much benefit from combo cards.

I think I read someone say that firebolt combo cards are not worth it because multipliers don't add up correctly, and there really aren't many other skills that are spammable besides Ice spear, which is right now only worth for clearing shylien areas, and you shouldn't need combo card for that. Blaze combo card is meaningless since blaze will one shot the mobs.

People are free to correct this, as it may contain unintentional misinformation.

Hailstorm combo card works very well. No need to hailstorm since blaze exists, though.

Firebolt combo card is terrible and only gives a small % of the damage it advertises.

Ice spear combo card only counts per attack and not per explosion last I checked, so not very useful.

Blaze combo card... you can... use it for damage testing on bears? YEAH who DOESN'T like to overkill the shit out of bears in tailteann.

3. You blaze after the above combo finishes for 100k+ damage.

That's pretty much all there is to magic.

That's pretty much all there is to magic during the martial arts tournament.

I personally find Blaze to be sort of a pain in the ass, so i'll try to mix in Meteor Strike (Round 3 or below), 10 charge Thunder, and Hail Storm when feasible.

Outside of the martial arts tournament, Firebolt is useful pretty much anywhere and Ice Spear is your best way of taking down ecology mobs. Shockwave is pretty useful, especially as a follow up to Charge. Fusion Bolt deals good damage but it'll only ever be useful if you're waiting for a spawn.

Fireball is sort of the odd man out. I can't think of any place where I would actually use it.

Crisis is a puppeteer skill that drags all mobs (that don't have adv heavy stander) towards it, within a certain radius. It gives the monsters invincibility frames, but other than that, it's really useful for party play since some AoEs have small radii *cough* blaze *cough* hailstorm *cough* flameburst *cough* ele frozen blast or shadow bind to lock them *cough*.

Act 4 is another puppeteer skill that is generally used in the blaze combo. It's like a stomp attack, but if used immediately after crisis, it won't cause a knockback, and only a knockdown will occur (perfect setup for blaze).

Release blaze when act 4 is used.
