Teenage Girl Chooses Death Over Chemo

  A 17 year old girl diagnosed with cancer ran away from home, claiming the chemo would hurt her more than the cancer (85% survival chance with chemo, around 5% without). She is demanding the right to seek out alternative medicine to cure her cancer without "poisoning" her body.
  
  The supreme court has ruled unanimously that teenagers are dumbasses and clearly not mature enough to make decisions for themselves after hearing her arguments and have ruled that if her parents do not continue taking her to her treatments she will be taken from them and put into the custody of the state for her own well being. She is already in temporary custody, but it may become permanent if the child endangerment charges against her mother continue.
  
  The mother is quoted as saying "This isn't about whether she'll die or not, of course my daughter isn't going to die."
  
  I approve of the supreme count's decision. Her mother is more concerned with "Well, it's her choice so I have to do what she wants" than she is with "My daughter is killing herself". Stop being her friend and be a parent, jesus. Good thing the state stepped in before the delusional mom could get her killed by letting her do whatever she wants.

That's what it DOES. I know some people survive, but looking at your daughter and going "Na, don't even worry about treatment, she'll never die." is just stupidity.

  I could understand her choosing that option if it was going to kill her anyways and chemo would only delay it for a little while, because there's no point to living longer if you'll be too sick and weak from the chemo to even enjoy that extra time of life you get. If you have say 1 month left to live better just live it as normally as possible instead of extending your life to 3 or 4 months but be in bed 24/7.
  
  But at an 85% chance to recover, someone needs to kick her in the head and drag her to chemo.

  Maybe stupidity is hereditary. Maybe it'd be best if we let this line die off. Hopefully chemo will make her infertile.

For example if I had a sickness and the only way to cure it involve a method that would make my hair all fall off, I prefer to die than having to work back on my hair from scratch.   Something that can grow back with literally no effort and can be covered up with a wig until it does is worth more than your life which you only get 1 of? I can't even begin to understand that logic.

  Some situation are not worth living with.
  And it's not something that relate to logic but more with emotions. if you want logic so much become an extreme utilitarian.
  
  Through you may not be able to understand my personal example, maybe a different example would be easier to understand
  
  You can die right now without any pain or... you can be saved after 9 years but during those 9 years there will always have 3 people kicking you in the guts, on the legs, on your face and all sort of other place, They are wearing shoes and are kicking with their as if they mean it.
  
  You`ll probably live 30-50 more years afterward but is it really worth going through those 9 years?
  The future you might be able to have a nice life afterward but the current you only has hell on earth coming for them.
