So recently a Mabinogi Private server has popped up. It runs off G13 JP Mabinogi and somewhat translated (There is an English server and Japan server). It uses the old combat system and doesn't have talents. I'd just like to open a thread for discussion on it and thoughts.
If you'd like to look into it the name of it is Mabinogi Reborn. Use it at your own risk and as stated by Osay I'm not allowed to post links. If you want a link if you can't find it PM me.

I wonder how they'd incorporate cash shop stuff into this.

I personally encourage private servers of any game, but they have to be appealing and better than the original in some way.
The "not nexon" part is probably the only good point though. G13 is pretty old, and I like a lot of the new mechanics implemented since then.
I also like my character and all the hard work I put into it, so starting from zero on a server that doesn't offer all the content isn't for me.

Cuz Osay despises Nexon right? :whip:
Any other differences besides pre-Genesis no Destiny/Talents?

The thing is, they said they might add other stuff later on, reforge is probably one of them.
Still interested to see where this leads, hopefully we can have cash free items!

They also said they have few of their own NPC.

I posted this in their suggestion forum and my opinion on the server as of now:
First of all I'd like to thank MabiRe for starting a Mabinogi private servers which is rare/impossible to find. I'd like to bring up some issues with MabiRe that are somewhat game related. Another thing I'd like to point out is that I understand MabiRe is just in open beta and things could change.
The main issue with MabiRe right now is its selling point. When I started and played for a bit I asked myself, "Why play this over the original?" and I realized there were more cons over pros.
Pros:
- Not owned by Nexon
-Rates higher than original
- Nostalgia (Applies to vets)
- JP Exclusive stuff
As above there aren't many pros I could think that would keep me here. Overall when I think of people that play private servers they do it because they are either avoiding paying for the original or just want to "cheat" (easy to get rares and endgame faster) and socialize. Right now MabiRe doesn't meet either of those points and the only reason I find to try it out is nostalgia which may not apply to those who joined after the Shakespeare revamps. When you look at other private servers for other games you can see why people play them. Maplestory for example, the reason why people play those private servers is that they don't have to pay lots of NX and also they have a faster progression towards endgame. Runescape is another, people avoid paying monthly membership and can have fun PvPing and what not. I'm not saying MabiRe needs to be broken and just give players free things because if MabiRe is too easy people will leave.
So now I'll discuss things to think about but if you change them is up to the community and staff here.
First up is the rates. Yes they are higher than the original but not significant enough to see the difference. In the original Mabinogi the drops from mobs are just trash, nothing worthwhile except for later bosses. Another rate is EXP which seems to be a barely noticeable change from the original (could be because updated curves in future generations). Lastly the gold rate doesn't seem like it changes much because gold drops in the original Mabinogi are so low that some vets don't pick up gold or just summon dolls to pick them up.
Another issue I'd like to bring up is AP. What is the point of having 2x skill training if you get drained out on AP fast. It'd make more sense to have double or triple AP.
Beginner benefits in MabinogiNA are better than MabiRe so why start over on MabiRe besides nostalgia.
-500 free AP
-Free bags
-Daily RB
-Nao Stones
Cash shop is another thing I'd like to bring up. Most of us know that the original Mabinogi equips and fashion items come from gachapon. One way MabiRe could fix this is put the clothes in normal NPC shops. End game equips should be boss drops or chest dungeon drops (or craftable if possible). Pets could be rewarded during events via points by NPC (X event points= 1 pet). Now comes the issue if you do this, how will the server make money? Obviously a lot of people are afraid of pay2win but that is what a private server runs off of if you look at other servers. I propose a premium service with added benefits such as daily rebirth, more ap, etc. Free players could get 5 day rebirths or weekly, more ap than the original Mabinogi but less than paying players. This way the only divide in the game is by levels not items.
So overall my suggestion to the game is make it easier than the original game but don't make it too easy for people to drop the game. I'd appreciate any feedback on my suggestion and thank you for reading my long ass thread haha.

It's okay for some parts.
My only issue is that the majority of older players that most people disliked in Alexina server basically migrated to there, and they acts like they own the whole server.
They all broke a seal stone, and one of the older trash Alexina players even threatened to make an alt so he can break a second seal stone because he doesn't want anyone else to get it.

Assholes will be assholes, if everyone ignores them they'll just go cry in a corner and everyone can get on with their lives.

Pretty much. I made a suggestion in their forums to have all seal stones reset monthly, so people who already broke a seal stone can't break one anymore, which encourage more players to help each others out for breaking it, and to encourage less people trying to be a special snowflake as well.

I couldn't give a shit about who breaks seal stones and what not. You broke a seal stone? Good for you, do you want a cookie?
Those "threats" are laughable. Majority of the Alexina players are dumb anyway.

I know right? Seal stone titles were only a big deal in chapter 1, even when the new ones in C3 came out no one cared who got it.

I would personally prefer to invest my time into the real server rather than a private server.
I feel that achieving something on a PS isn't as rewarding. I mean, private servers are good for short-term enjoyment I suppose.
Maplestory private servers (imo) are fun for a short duration, but after getting everything you want, it becomes dull. Plus, to get the best things (or benefits), you have to donate money. Not saying that this mabi private server does that, but maybe it will if it becomes successful.
To each their own, of course. I personally wouldn't bother. Though, you can test some things in a private server which comes in handy, but even then, it depends on how it's made.

Yup, pretty much this, plus the server leader must have LOT of dedications if they want to keep it running.
Even the admin for Mabinogi Reborn said that if they don't have at least about 100 active players by end of month, they might will close the private server down.

I'd rather they reset weekly. 12 people per year isn't going to serve enough for the entire population.
The cylinder upgrade discovery could reset, too.
