Clearing out Caravan quests has yielded a lot of Caravan Points for me. I always just end up selling monster parts when I need money.

expeditions is a lot better for caravan points
you get thousands of points per go and the bonuses add a lot
It scales with rank too.

I'm so happy, was maining lance/hammer but decided to give switch axe a shot, i'm inlove with the versatility and power this weapon packs. Ontop of that i managed to get a rath plate (1-3% drop rate) while making my first GOOD Switch axe and managed to upgrade it a second time only having to hunt rath 1-2 extra times for the wing parts. This weapon just destroys everything, not sure if it's the poison or just the damage output is that high, but monsters are just dropping at my feet now.

Okay im at a weird place right now, I just obtained a gore plate from farming gore like 4 times with hatsuni, i have a choice, either upgrade a weapon with the plate, although any alternative to the switchaxe i have atm would be weaker, or go for the full gore armor set, any help on deciding would be appreciated lol, on one hand, sweet fucking weapon, on the other, full gore/S gore hybrid appears to be extremely good armor for Endgame quests.

I'm stuck in G2. I don't know, I still have HR Kirin set and I'm getting by (barely) with that-- only getting 1shotted if it's an enraged fireball or laser... or Chaos Magala. I'm thinking about just toughing it up until I can get the GX Tempest set.. is it possible?

I just finished S magala, (i found it easier than gore) but can't use the materials yet because the gore plate is super rare and i haven't figured out what to make, would it be smarter to make a gore switch axe then upgrade the axe again with the S mag materials for the new high level quests im doing?
Or just upgrade to gore set, then upgrade that further for the set bonus/defensive.
I'm really loving the poison weapon i have and actually think i'll take this all the way to max upgrade, but i've heard gore weapons are so good.

Pure LR Gore armour is crappy. As I said before you should be picking out armour sets for their skills and the LR Gore armour set isn't blessed with good skills and has an active negative Fire Resistance skill which means the total Fire Resistance of it is -45ish. You can gem it out as with any other skill but you could also just use a better armor set in the first place.
A hybrid of LR/HR Gore is okay. You use Gore S Helm and Braces with LR Gore stuff to get Spirit and Handicraft. 10 points in Spirit gives you Challenger +1 which is +10 Attack and +10% Affinity whenever a monster rages, 15 points gets you Challenger +2 which is +25 Attack and +20% Affinity when a monster rages. I prefer the mishmash handicraft set but it's viable.

Gore weapons differ between weapon classes. (lances are meh with Gore (my opinion anyway)) And i don't have enough experience with switch axes.

A good chunk of the group is at G2. actually doing key quests currently for those. If you want, just PM me and the group can run stuff perhaps.

Finally tried my hand at bows, i have the second upgraded gore bow, the one that takes S magala parts and i'm in HR8 for storyline, and hr 5 for guildquests.
I'm using jaggi S armor for the Attack bonus reload speed and halve stun. On one hand i love the range and I've picked up 'perfect' spacing to get the explosions/screenshake atleast 90% of the time.
My two gripes would be, even with power coating fights take forever. I also get 1 shot by just about everything, not sure if that's intentional, full jaggi set upgraded to the third tier stone gives me about 113 armor for HR and get's me literal 100-0% with 1 attack from most monsters.
Maybe im just doing something wrong lol
