So who is getting a N3DS ?

  They had no extras. The only one was 73 miles away, and i was advised to ship it back to nintendo with a 85 dollar fee + shipping and handling before googling someone else's solution

  Yeah, it actually looks even better than I had imagined. It's so great that whereas I normally scoff at the idea of protective screens/covers etc I'm really looking into it for this. The Hori Duriplex is looking promising because it seems to address my usual gripe with cases (http://www.hori.jp/products/new3dsll/new_3dsll_tpu_cover/, look at that fit!) been delayed till the 3rd of March though :x
  
  1: I can't speak for FE: A specifically but people say MH4U has better textures and such so maybe?
  2: Yeah, I actually used a 2DS before now so other than the general feel being completely different I keep moving my hand to the right edge of the handheld to pull the stylus out. The buttons and d-pad feel a lot flatter and it might just be my imagination but they don't feel as springy (maybe because they're flatter?).
  
  EDIT: I have however heard a bunch of complaints about the N3DS XL Hori screen protectors being difficult to work with while the original 3DS XL screen protectors weren't. So there is that.

  I want to decal mine with my art (that I haven't drawn yet...), but I was really hoping this place would have the New 3DS XL skin. Decal Girl is alright, but this one automatically matches the top and bottom of the outside to fit, and I wanted to use pretty big art. Plus it covers more than the Decal Girl decals do, generally.
  
  Ayyyy. I'll need to look at other games later, but right now, I'm loving this thing's screens. I'm also more tempted to use the 3D since it really does actually follow my face.

  Nintendo used a slightly higher quality display for the New models, though it's still pretty bad...
  
  Generally, it's not recommended to upgrade from the old 3DS to the new one, as the improvements are pretty insignificant. Plus you end up with one charger missing, which is pretty dumb--I mean, you could re-use the one from the old 3DS, but then you can't, say, give the old 3DS to a friend or family member as it would be missing its charger. xd
  
  I'm curious when Nintendo will release their next gen portable and what it'll be like. Supposedly, they're working on getting an AMD chip into the next model, so the game development process won't be as shitty as with the weird, low-performance chip in the current/"new" gen.

  And so far, the upgrade's proven itself to be worth it. I'm actually getting used to where some of the new button locations are. That was an adventure the first time.

  Wasn't talking about you specifically, but that's what most kids in a family would with their toys. :< Either way, that oversight severely limits its usefulness. I guess N would prefer you not doing that, though.
  
  As for the upgrade, it's only worth it if you really care about 3D, since that's the only area where there's a major improvement. That and of course if you want to play a game that requires the new HW.
  
  Aside from that, you're re-buying the same device with slightly improved screens and performance, a slightly less ugly design... for more than the cost of the original, plus the cost of a new SD card and charger if you want to pass down your old 3DS. :|
  
  May as well spend that money on a Vita so you can get access to both systems' libraries instead.

  The 3D works wonders and it is really nice. As for another thing you didn't list is the C-Stick, yes you can get the circle pad pro but I have to say the C-Stick is AMAZING. Love it in smash, majoras, and MH4U.

  Right now I'm using mine for Smash and some camera stuff in Majora's Mask. Eventually I'll be using it for MH4U. It's tiny but very responsive.
