Flamer first or Golem?

But Golem is stronger and more useful.

So Golem. Also, you can train Alch Mastery with Golem and you can't with Flame Burst. (Excluding attack and enemy with Alchemy).

But training Alchemy Mastery with Golem is so slow. I would recommend the OP to rank Barrier Spikes or even Frozen Blast if he wants to get his AM rank high. Frozen Blast, preferably. It might take more AP, but the crystal ingredients are just so easy to get.

Just bang on those snowmen all day for Snowballs. Chopping wood is annoying and requires durability (and repairs).

Nonetheless, both skills are great. Though I see myself using Melee over Alchemy more. Golem is good, so go for that.

You can't get past r2 without making at least 1,200 r4~r2 crystals.

I think you should just stick with golem... you've already started it and your an elf so if you get in a situation when you need a bit more "unf" you can just take out a golem.

1190!! and thank goodness for that. 10 more would have left me and my Ice spear caster catatonic for a year

You may not have to delve into Mana Crystalization (MaCr) much at all if you have a good caster. I hear, but yet to confirm, that you could technically get by with rF MaCr. The only person I could find that was willing to cast 1190 times only had r2 ice spear, so I was forced to rank MaCr to r6.
