I'm fairly new to the game and I want to dedicate myself to getting stronger, and I had a friend who told me that his friend whom I just met can solo "ALL" HM SMs unprepared (no gears, etc.) as a ttlvl 300, and I'm like how and I tried calling bs on that..but then no one listens to me so yea...
He just told me that "it's a matter of where you invests your skills", then I was thinking back...when I was ttlvl 300, I invested my skills on WM for the most part..
I don't know if I did anything wrong since I ranked my warrior skills in this order: WM, CM (Combat Mastery), Critical Hit, Smash, Assault Slash, Defense, Shield Mastery, Heavy Armor Mastery, Light Armor Mastery
I'm doing warrior first because someone told me that in order to even be a Knight, I need the foundations down and now I have at least 280 hp per rb and I'm already ttlvl 674...According to this one elf dude he gets "at least 300hp per rb" and he's ttlvl 2k who isn't even a warrior as he says...:gloom3: told me I'm still a noob till I get to his lvl.
I'm just really confused like is it really that bad that I'm only new and people assume I'm bad yet I survive HM SMs better than this one giant dude who ran with me in a party and he boasts he's 2k ttlvl ... yet died not 3 rooms but at least 5...I honestly don't know what's the big deal...
and also someone told me that any character who wears ALL black is considered a trap...I just don't like wearing black with white since it looks just meh, and I find it annoying when people find out the reason why I just wear all black...

Well I think you're doing pretty well skill-wise...the amount of hp you have right after rb doesn't really matter too much since you'll be leveling right afterwards anyways. Since you have the armor masteries ranked up you would be tanky with armor+shield so as long as your hp is reasonably high it won't matter too much.
Doing warrior before knight is good, since knights will be using most warrior skills. Don't bother comparing total levels too much nowadays, levels are easy to get, what matters is the amount of ap invested. Besides, if you can survive well in HM then it's all good. And I wouldn't judge someone's strength by their max hp, I've run around with around 150 hp back in the day and I could still run HM missions with no issues. (protip: don't get hit)

And I've never heard of wearing all black being considered a trap before...

It's a matter of where you invest your skills? At level 300, you probably don't have that much ap to invest. Also, here's a pretty good way of calling BS: You can't even enter hard mode unless you have the prerequisite talent level. I mean he could toss some AP in to some easy talent skills to get there by like level 300 but I think it's pretty difficult to pull off that AND have properly placed skills, AND be able to do that with no equips. Unless he has a TON of AoE pets, yeah. Probably not telling the truth.
Level 2k I can perfectly understand being capable of pulling that off. 300? Nah. Especially not missions like shadow wizard and sulfur spider, also TDB. Shit, I don't think many people could solo TDB due to its failure mechanics regardless of how high level they are. I know SOME people can but yeah. That's some next level stuff.
You're doing nothing wrong. That guy was probably full of shit.

I also heard new people these days can get to 1k ttlvl in just a week, but I can't do it with the daily rb and I don't want to leech off MA since I'd rather farm GOP pages nowadays for money... I have to say kudos to them. I can only get to lvl 50 at least before I use my daily rb

Your friend is full of shit. You just couldn't tell yet because you're simply not experienced, which is pretty natural.
Here's a problem with your friend: if you wanted to actually solo all HM missions, you probably need at least one master talent in combat areas, and that's still probably not enough. And to be clearing these missions effectively, you need to be doing at least 5k crits on windmill. I don't think a level 300 can do that unless it's an alt that got shit load of AP through hero talent. While it is somewhat true that "it's matter of where you invest your skills", 300 is simply too low of a level to determine that at all. Maybe level 1.5k, but it's still kind of a stretch for average population. As for your skills, you want to max out weapon masteries before defensive masteries. As for the elf dude, it's kinda problematic that he gets only 300 hp at level 2k... even I had more than that before the talents came out at lower level. So you don't need to worry about "getting on his level" because honestly, it's a thing that is stupid as shit for him to say. In this game, only worry about yourself, don't care about what others say. As for getting 1k in a week, it's totally possible. And you have to do MA for that. And I know you say you don't want to leech off MA, but my suggestion is that if you do find people who are kind enough to let you leech... do it. It's the most effective level up method in hand for you at the moment, and probably one of gold methods too.

1K total level in a week? Discounting exploration that'd be level 142 every day. Counting exploration that's like level 100 and exploration level 42 each day.
For somebody that just started...
I'd post an image of my BS-detector but it overloaded and exploded.
Your friend tells tall tales.

For starting your character you need to learn how to draw arch lich on odd rebirth days for maximum daily AP. If you don't know its EASY ap and your level doesn't matter.
Here is a nice video from Xemekong and Osaydian on how its done. Might take some practice to get it right but its worth it.
When your low total you need to focus a couple skills that give you damage. Make a couple weapons that work with that skill and slowly build up good stats to make those skills best.
Another thing to start collecting is -cp pieces. These are not vital yet but picking up some should be a priority. It makes ranking skills easy.
Also just for comfirmation: Your friend is lying. At 300 total I doubt they could even solo Hard Mode basic dungeons effectively.

What do you mean odd rebirth days?

Lich spawns on Monday Wednesdays Fridays between 12 midnight and 6am and Sundays from 8pm to 6am. I consider Monday day 1 of the week. So days 1,3,5,7 are lich days. Since you are under 1k daily rebirth will allow you to use this on "odd" rebirth days.

Osayidan wrote on 2015-03-28 20:10
And if you want to whore exploration AP as much as possible get to 50 before each rebirth even if it means not rebirthing every day, will take you longer to get to 1k total but you'll come out of it with more AP than if you don't.

You really can solo all HM missions in tail/tara ezpz just spamming cc4 firebolt at total 300. I pretty much steamrolled any content the game allowed me to solo with it as a newly created character.
You get like god knows how many hundreds of AP just from saga and you can be done with them before you're even level 100~200.

that's not very true. even at 700 int w/ S5 savage fire wand you're still gonna have trouble mostly with multi aggro and most mobs dying in 2 hits. Not to mention the crazy man a cost.
