we need a way to attract new members
Now I just read Mabi updates as a form of entertainment. It's funnier than most TV shows.
or they spent so much of their real money on this game, that they'd feel ashamed if they quit it, seeing the money they spent as a complete waste.
My thoughts on this has been, and still are, to change from being solely a Mabi fansite (I don't really think this place can be called a community anymore since nobody does anything with others anymore, it's only about exchanging information) into just a general gaming community. A place where people can get together and organize, whether it's to pick a server for everyone to join in a different MMO, forming teams/crews/gangs/etc. in pseudo-MMOs, random events within the community (raffles, forum games, things like that). Things of that nature.
However, every time I suggest that, at least 90% of the active members tell me that it's a stupid idea, and that many of them will leave the site should it become like that. If it were my site, I would probably tell them to leave then if that's how they want to act, and direct them to /r/Mabinogi, which is really what most of the active members are really looking for: a place that's solely about Mabinogi. There aren't any conversations about other games. There's no random bullshit like what you would find in Bean Rua (which most of the Mabi players on this site hate).
Of course, since thinks likely won't change anytime soon, the site will probably stagnate until either:
A) Chise grows tired completely of Mabi and either gives up on this site, which will then probably wither and die like Guru, or he sells it to someone that does care, in which case it will probably be the same thing. It will stagnate until the new owner grows tired, and then gives up or sells it.
B) People on this site in general grows tired of Mabi, realizing that it's nothing but literally doing the exact same things every day. Grind until you can't anymore, so that you can raise some skills, just so in a week you can reset your character to grind until you can't anymore and raise more skills, ad nauseum. In fact, I'm sure that the people on this site are still only playing is because either they're too new to realize this, or they spent so much of their real money on this game, that they'd feel ashamed if they quit it, seeing the money they spent as a complete waste.
C) Nexon gives up on it. While Mabinogi may still be one of the more profitable games for Nexon NA, in Korea, it's not. Considering that there hasn't been any new story for nearly 8 months, any new content (outside of events) in 2 months, and the most recent update was only a revamp for the revamp they've been working on for nearly half a year, just goes to show that Nexon KR just doesn't really care that much about the game anymore, and are spending more time/money working on their new IPs and their major cash cows (MapleStory, DnF, etc.)
Either way, unless there's a sudden change in what this site is about, and we bring in personal friends and such to try and bring it back, this site will, sadly, die out, and unless people added each other in Skype or Facebook or whatever, what little bit of community there still is in this site will most likely disappear altogether.
I know that's the only reason I'm still playing.

i dont wnat it to vanish
why not make a poll for those in favour of general gaming forum and what that will actually mean for the site ?
I quit nexon cold turkey and i spent wayyyyyyy too much.
When i r1'd everything at the time, the realization hit me. Why am i playing this
That all being said, does it really matter if the website isn't booming with population? It's not exactly dead
