  Not forced to, its just easier to spend money if you have the money to spend, they are necessary for upgrading weapons and accessories.

  There's the currency exchange to gold, and the RNG Treasure Trove event that has a chance to crap out gems worth 400g~ on marketplace. And then there's the rat with an RNG pouch of 5k gold.
  
  

  
  
  • Weapon Breakthrough: I have no idea where that comes from.
    
  • Silverfrost Transformation Stone: Merry Potter/Soul Warden recipe, sold 10g on marketplace.
    
  • Moonstone: Soulstone Plains (you need to have sufficient attack power and health to survive or you'll easily get one shot and barely make the contribution), sold 2g on marketplace.
    
  • Frozen Stinger: Silverfrost purple dungeons, sold 2g on marketplace.
    
  • Flower of Lament: Sogun's Lament 4-man drop.
    
  • Silverfrost Premium Transformation Stone: Transmutation from 4 Silverfrost Trans Stones, 25 Moonstones, 100 Soulstones, 20 Frozen Stingers, and 50g. Has a chance to fail which will only eat gold per attempt.
    

  
  
  It took me almost a week just to get True Siren -> True Oathbreaker Earring, and almost two weeks following suit to get True Pirate -> True Breeze weapon. It's already a fucking nightmare just to get to Awakened/True Scorpion from True Breeze.
  
  I guess my goal now is to pool up resources for the next Hongmoon skill coming out in Sogun's Lament/Cold Storage. At least I get 15 + 15 + 15 + 20 + 5 + 6 = 76 Soulstones minimum a day from Soulstone Plains.

  The weapon evolution item is a bit different than I remebered, I seem to recall first evo is in the town where old man cho lives but it seems first evo item has now moved to black ram dungeon.

  It's not like you need more than True Pirate anyway, and they did effectively make Moonwater Era gear easier by reducing the Soulstone cost on materials. All I have are True Breeze Weapon, True Siren Necklace and Ring, True Oath Earring, Awakened Oath Bracelet and Belt, and Hongmoon Energy Stage 1, that's more than enough to support all of Silverfrost. So just take your time with your gear.
  
  Sogun's Lament 6-man is surprisingly a joke and seems heavily exaggerated. The only thing that will cost you there are braindead pugs, and the mechanics aren't hard to follow up upon.

  But I play these games to advance my character. If I need a billion of an item to upgrade and each item costs 2 gold, and I only have the time to earn maybe ~10 - 15 gold per day it just gives zero motivation to even try. Especially at the rate they're shitting out content. They want us to catch up to korea in less than a year, when all the other versions of the game had years to get to where we are now. It's causing prices to go crazy, and casual players get stuck.
