[KR] MapleStory 2 Official Release

  MapleStory 2 has left the Closed Beta stage and is skipping the Open Beta stage.
  
  You can currently download the client here (took me about 15 minutes) and create your character now (which includes reserving a character name). There are still a lot of hairs, eyes, and tattoos to pick from, but if you had your heart set on one that isn't in there yet, you'll be able to change it in stores within the game later.
  
  There will only be one server so you don't need to worry about that for now. (Server uses the same icon as Scania from Maple 1, LF>BelloNova.)
  
  Aside from creating a character and adjusting the ingame options, you cannot actually login to your character until July 7th, 2015.
  
  Keep in mind you need a Nexon KR account to do this. There are legal and illegal ways to get them, so you can go research how to get one on your own if you don't have one yet because I won't be posting how here.

  I've tried it myself but I don't really like it. Then again I'm not a fan of the original Maplestory. I can help answer questions though if anyone got any.

  It's live, not open beta, they skipped that stage.
  
  
  This game is very grindy, and I haven't gotten too far, but I like it so far. People who actually put effort could get level 30 in one or two days (current max level is 30 but next month uncaps that to 40 along with new content, and 50 in another 1~2 months after that).
  
  Currently an attendance check event running, but also an event where on certain days of the month you can alter a part of your character unlimited(?) times for free.
  
  Only real notable thing about the live patch is that unlike in the betas and alphas, I'm 90% sure you can't get merit from completing misc quests/trophies. That being said, you can only get merit from buying NX, or selling UGC (and to get UGC templates you spend merit so NX is always the origin unless they give out merit in events). You also need merit to buy UGC by the way.
  
  I've only tried a priest thus far so I can't say much about classes, but priests seem pretty sustainable and actually kind of strong.
  
  Quests give a really good amount of exp, probably moreso than grinding alone. But if you grind with others, you'll probably do better. This game has no party exp, and you only get exp for things you hit but you get full exp when it dies. So there's no incentive to party on the overworld but there is for like party quests and stuff. You can have 20 people in the same area all hitting a monster once and get some experience really fast. That seems to be the best way, followed by questing if solo, followed by grinding without a group.

  Apparently you can't go wrong with any class, so there won't be one class that greatly outshines another (or rather, a stupidly broken class.)

  That's just the tip of the iceberg. Now you've triggered my rant button.
  
  The grind to 200 is way too damn high.
  There's little to no story that drags on forever with no resolution.
  Bossing requires you to spend hundreds/thousands of dollars on cubing the shit out of your gear
  Pets and Pet Items are all temporary unless you happen to get lucky and get the perma pets that come out once in a blue moon
  They fucked up the Royal Hair Coupon big time. Making hairs appear and disappear with false advertising (I really can't get over how much money I lost cause of that shit and they refused to refund me! Assholes!)
  Shops require money to maintain and you have to pay to search for items you want or endure hours of searching through 20 flipping FMs (Basilmarket eases some of this pain but not by much)
  
  I think that's all the sins I can think of that Maplestory and Nexon has committed and why I don't exactly trust MS2.
  
  I'm going to wait it out, see which direction MS2 heads in.

  I remember that one quest that gave you a completely random hairstyle and you had no way to change it back without cashing it. I, or rather a friend of mine, ended up cashing to revert it. I was pretty infuriated with the random stupid hair I got.

  Yea, there's a lot of minigames and customization and stuff. Not sure what you mean by racing, unless that's one of the minigames. There's also the ability to make your own minigames, but that wasn't in the beta and I'm not sure if that's ingame right now. The minigames I've tried are fun. Sometimes there's preset minigames that run every x time and everyone in the server can participate. Sometimes while fighting, a magic hat will drop and you have like half a minute to enter it if you want to to enter a minigame, most of the hat minigames are really profitable.

  I've only done one big boss so far, I haven't been that active. It was fun but at the same time I was useless because I was only like level 12 so I couldn't even really heal myself or party members without potions.

  Thankfully it seems like both cash shop clothing as well as player made clothing do not expire in MS2. Then again, clothing never expired in MS1 KR, that's an NA (and some other servers') thing.
  
  Seems like pretty much every class has a role and isn't greatly outshined by another right now. Of course that won't stay the same. And don't even go blaming that on Maple 1 or Nexon in general, every continuously-updating MMO with many classes loses its base-game balance eventually, and never wholly recovers from that.
