I do wish there was a better way to find the average price of things. If I have something to sell, and it's not on housing board, I pretty much just make up a price, then lower it until someone buys it.
That's exactly how I operate too. Not the most ideal system. Either that or sit there for ages doing party signs which is even worse.
Mabi's craptastic market system has made it so I have tons of shit on my pets from crapachon's that I have no idea what the fuck to do with so I end up either mass feeding it to my ego (if it can be fed to it) or just dropping it rather than going through the hassle of trying to sell the damn things.
Currently I'm sitting on a mountain of dyes that I don't know what to do with.

question: what and when do you guys buy goods from other players?
How often they are:
Gachapon weapons
Gachapon clothes/armors
Reforges
Enchants
Other nx stuff
holy water
training mats (ores, silk, fabric, etc)
Personally i buy hw 1 or 2 stacks every month
For me it's usually:
1) Selling/Buying Gachapon Weapons/clothing/armor/titles
2) Buying Enchants, Selling Enchants I rarely do as it's a pain to do so, so I just hoard them like I hoard dyes
3) I usually sell reforges but those sell so fast that it is hardly a concern of mine. I tend to not buy them from players and instead just buy directly with nx
4) Rare Dungeon Materials for Celtic weaponry
As for how often, it's usually on initial release of an update that I scramble for that. Then the gachapon stuff is every gachapon cycle that happens once or twice a month in some cases. For enchants it's usually when I've created a new weapon which I'm still hunting for the enchant I need for my tribolt celtic wand and have given up on for the most part cause of how boring it is to run Fiodh and unable to find players to help me spam it for enchants cause the rewards are so craptastic.
I could rant on for ages about all the things I really really hate about Mabinogi that has driven me to the point of rarely playing.
The Market System is one, the dungeon system is another. Takes a long amount of time with very little to show for it. I spend the same amount of time doing dungeons in Guild Wars 2 and I actually have something worthwhile to work off of.

I was unaware that if a person bought Premium/VIP, they were required to use Housing. Last I checked, nobody in the game is required to use housing to sell their stuff. I don't have either and I still make money just opening a shop in Tir, Dunbarton, or Belvast. Housing is not a punishment by any means to the playerbase. Being required to have Inv+ to sell items was, and Nexon knocked down that barrier.
That said, I am in agreement with you in the fact that there has to be a better solution for the endless Party Ads and the Enchant Scroll names being visible. I am okay with having a "Wanted" board for items, or giving players their own chat channel or something so it doesn't take up the Party Chat. However, that isn't Nexon's fault that for your transactions, the person with the item you want doesn't want to change channels to the main market channel.
Have to is a strong word. If you want to sell things offline like normal MMO's you do have to use Housing. As for blaming Nexon. I'm not blaming Nexon, I'm just saying the current system sucks and needs a better solution.
