ok so i let my friend do most of it through team viewer
any way after it finally finished...
my PC works almost properly for 20 seconds
and then its a paperweight
i cant open the run command
task manager instantly crashed
right clicking the desktop locks me out from clicking anything I dont already have open
I cant turn the PC off properly
no access to start menu
there is currently no Windows 10 support because the queue is too high
i cant revert back to windows 7 because i cant access the start menu
my computer is 10% away from being a paperweight and the only way i can see it getting fixed is to go to a computer shop and pay some one to reformat it with windows 7 with no way to back up anything
so yeah
DONT FUCKING UPGRADE

Works fine on my machine.
The run command like win 8 is integrated with 10's start menu.
Just start typing after you click the start menu.
Also why did you even need your friend to use team viewer with you. The upgrade process is streamlined as hell.

Like any new OS release, its a piece of junk until it has several months field time to work out the last minute issues.
I would suggest that it is only installed on workbench systems until after January 1 2016, by then it will have enough field operating time to not have any major open issues.
Also upgrade in place has ALWAYS been bad, like why do they even make it an option level extremely bad do not do it.
Clean install is the ONLY proper way to change an operating system, and the ONLY way that will ever work reliably.

As far as I know for the free upgrade you're forced to update rather than clean install, or you can't legitimately activate the OS.
Don't know if you can do that the first time then somehow get a working windows 10 key to do a clean install later but from what I've seen you can't.

I did an upgrade on my Windows 8.1 laptop and no problems at all O.o
I don't think a full reinstall is always necessary and sometimes works just fine.
All the games I care about work. Well Mabinogi requires me to mod but meh, most of the community mods anyways so meh.

That's curious. Guess something wasn't correctly initialised.
Why isn't it my turn yet? :(((

you need to windows update about 5,598 times until you get no more windows updates at all
this includes optional stuff

I had a look and interestingly there were still outstanding updates even though I told it to automatically update. Oh well.
Oh wow! It already tried and failed a few times, I just looked at the update history for the first time ever.

I'm doing it on my laptop and it upgraded to windows 10 but then when I log in it was back to windows 8.1... then windows update popped up saying it failed and now it's downloading the windows 10 update again.
Kind of messed up.
I wanna do this shitty upgrade so I can do a clean install after.

This is the first time in my life where I can say a microsoft OS upgrade worked really well, and I've done upgrades from 98 -> XP all the way up to 8.1.
Having no issues at all on my laptop, don't even feel like doing a clean install.
