HitchBOT was created by Canadian researchers as a social experiment on human kindness. The robot is left at the side of the road, and powered by goodwill, has traveled across Canada, Germany and The Netherlands.
HitchBOT kicked off it's tour of the United States two weeks ago in Massachusetts — and we've already killed it.

It made it all the way across Germany, the Netherlands and Canada without more than a dent. No more than a couple hundred miles into America and it gets destroyed beyond repair. Good going America.

Couple hundred miles is actually quuuuiite a lot. It doesn't take more than that to cross Germany.
With every new stop the possibility of meeting a partypooper increases. It was bound to happen at some place really, and this says nothing about American culture.
Though of course, independently of that America is still rather more violent than many other developed countries...

We aren't a very hospital country. Americans in general are sadly very rude and unhospitable. Look at how we treat each other, it really is disgusting, wish I was born in Canada instead >.>

Moving to another country is really difficult Splat. You realize that right? I wouldn't move to Canada unless I had a good paying job over there.

You pretty much would have to get one anyways. I think the only 2 solid ways to legally live here is to marry a canadian, or get sponsored for a skills based job to get a working visa, then while living here under your working visa apply for permanent residence.

All gone out the window. It's funny how America keeps promoting "kindness" bullshit. And now they've just discriminated a robot.
Poor robot though, they have feelings too. Are the Canadian researchers going to sue or anything?

It really is a shame. Americans make such speeches, but do they live up to their own ideals? More often than not its a very clear cut no. This isn't the land of freedom or oppertunity. Its the land of how hard can you screw everyone else over without getting caught. And a defenseless robot sitting on the side of the road is prime target for someone's drug money.

Requirements for a US Citizen to move to Canada for any more than a temporary stay
- 6 months living expenses in your bank savings
- Employment ready to start on arrival
- Housing ready to move in
- LONG list of legal procedures
Believe me I wish I could move to Canada. Living in Upstate NY, a visit to Ontario is a weekend road trip. And the grass is CLEARLY greener on the other side of the fence, at least until you get far enough north to run into a longer snow season. Ottawa is a really nice place, and I've got server hardware in Montreal again.

Poor robot.
That being said, let's not be like the people who murdered the innocent robot; let's not trash talk each other or destroy anything beyond repair.
