Alright so I feel I might be late to the party in noticing this or whatever, but it seems one of the recent patches changed some music skills around so the short ones can't be interrupted. This includes Lullaby since the activation time is so short.

Lullaby, Enduring Melody, and March Song work like this, just activate them for an instant and cancel and they'll fire off on their own. Having them forcibly canceled works too, you can get smashed right after you start Lullaby and it'll fire off as you're flying through the air (makes Alban less insane).
Music skills that take longer to activate will not fire off if you cancel them instantly. However if you cancel them within a second or so of when they'd normally fire, they'll continue and fire off. So it seems what happened is that bard skills were given a second or so of leeway time before they'll activate. For Lullaby, Enduring Melody, and march Song the leeway time happens to be at least the size of their entire activation time which makes them unable to be interrupted.

Oh boy... Several users in Mabination that have some sort of vendetta against the Bard skillset are going to get more butthurt and and will be more desperate to try and nerf the Bard skills to the oblivion. :chomp2: even tho
Otherwise... If this change is intended then well... It'll be useful for some things in game, especially for Alban.

From what I see, I despise the damn change. Occasionally I'll accidentally use a wrong buff and that'll go through, or I'll accidentally not switch to my mando and use the wimpy 31% instead of refreshing the full 42% BFO.
It also makes it so that you get lullaby off 100%, which is completely retarded. Its handy, yes, but from what I see its a delay error that shouldn't be there. And switching into an instrument before it'd pull off doesn't fix it because its a delay of that nature.

For BFO you have a longer time before it'll fire off to try to cancel it, but yeah I first noticed it when I was trying to place a green circle without overwriting somebody's BFO and Enduring fired off anyways. I'll just start using Harvest Song to avoid that then, since there's time to cancel there.
Something like this is unlikely to be an accident or bug in my opinion. Some sort of leeway timer where there wasn't one before pretty much has to be constructed on purpose (or the values need offsets added by hand).

Woo hoo!
Funny thing is that I always forget that I have lullaby, even though I have it hotkey'd.

Yeah, I love how Bard skills will still go off, even if they're interrupted, as long as the effect were going to happen within the next second or so.
So I'm guessing this is a recent change?
I just came back and it was the first thing I noticed.
It's amazing.
And it seems like the effect of the music is determined by what's in your hands at the time of using the skill, not the time when the effect happens.

This really threw me off at first, but I'm starting to love it - especially in instant-aggro places like Alban.

I agree with this. I wouldn't want to accidentally overwrite BFO, and Lullaby doesn't need to be more OP than it should be.

I love this change, I hope it's not a glitch...

It's a cool and very useful thing but I kinda wish it was more of a "needs an instrument" thing with the need to actually PLAY music for a bit instead of switching real quick for 2 seconds or just using it cause you got rank 1 in all the shit. Maybe as if being a Bard was actually a thing instead of an extra skill tree to rank and abuse with your main thing. I really like the idea of enthralling performance but I don't think the skill has any real use aside from looking cool and dragging around a parade of enemys.

I kinda wish it only applied to Lullaby. The other skills don't really need it since you use them outside of battle, or right before battle, rarely during the action. Them activating anyway midbattle can cause problems, and it's like Lullaby where its intended to be used midbattle. I do appreciate this for Lullaby.

Hmm, may I ask how is this relevant to my quote in your post?
But if the change is intended, then I support it and Lullaby does need it for a while so it'll helpful.
However... I only said the first part because we have certain users that come in to try and 'buff' (even though most of us see it as Bard skillset being nerfed down to the oblivion) the Bard because they have some sort of vendetta against the Bard skillset and constantly come in with different ideas to try and 'buff' it which really got on some of our nerves.

Well I am pretty "butthurt" that Lullaby got a +1 to trivializing. It spells impending doom to monsters, yet I've been interrupted from time to time when using it. With this change now nothing can stop the music from causing imminent death and destruction, just like Final Hit.

As if Music Buff Skills needed to get any better. I guess this just means that DevCat will have to start releasing more enemies that are immune to lullaby since that seems to be their solution to balance issues.

Even their solution of X immune enemies isn't infallible. See: AR uniquely does ele reforge dmg on ele immune enemies.
