Behold, our supreme masters and money overlords has finally decides to release the widely anticipated Laighlinne partner that many of us were looking forward to ever since it's announcement in South Korea. Being one of the partners that came along with an unique boat mount, the capabilities of playing music, and furthermore, provide buffs and the possibilities of playing duets, trios, quads and more with just one or two people, she is a must have for all the bards of the world around!
... Or is she?
Let's start off with the mount that she came along with: the Flying Dutchman (No, it's not called the Flying Dutchman, really now). Pretty cool mount, huge flying boat, block paths, make newbies wow in amazement, just how can you get anything wrong with that?
Problem is, the boat is slow as hell. Not just is the boat slow, the maximum capacity of the boat is just two players! Two! There's enough space on the boat for at least four, come on now. Cut us some leash and give us more space. I'm very disappointed when I realized that the boat doesn't even have the capacity to carry 3 people (Partner not included). In comparison, it's 6,000 NX, or 6 USD, for a ride on a land boat. Like, come on now, if we were to pit the boat against the carriage, the horse carriage can carry the same amount of people and be at a faster speed with the perks of feeling like royalty while the rest of the plebs in Mabinogi rides along on their tiny scooters and clouds. I haven't tried the boat out to see if it flies. If it does, that's probably a perk against the carriage. But even then, they could have made it more impressive than the trash it is today.
Satisfaction from purchasing boat for 6 USD: 6/10. It's not that bad, but I thought it would be better than the trash it is today.
Now that we're done with her accessories, let's talk about Laighlinne herself. Now, I didn't really like her the moment she existed in Mabinogi because of the false advertisment that Nexon has made to claim that it's their most touching story ever yet (No, it's not). Furthermore, with the spams of really shitty quests and all that trash, Laighlinne was the last person I want to see after the event. But hey, it's fine. I'll do a 17 dollar purchase so I can get a free barding partner! She can even do buffs, help me out on missions, and she even speaks too! 100% satisfacation confirmed!
No.
Firstly, I do not know how well she can buff, but I am pretty sure that you specifically cannot equip upgraded equipments on partners (Could be wrong about this). Furthermore, she starts out with Rank C musical skills. I do not know how fast or how far can she advance, but Rank C music knowledge and playing along with a Rank 1 theory scroll basically means she is never going to be able to play your music perfectly.
Shit.
I thought that I could pass her my additional Hamelin Tuner, but giving partners special items are actually forbidden ever since the point of their release. You would think that they could just release the damn partner restrictions already, but no. Until today, partners are not allowed to wear robes, wings, puppet accessories like shadow bats and ghosts, or even use special weapons. If you think Laighlinne is any different, think again.
Okay, so now we know she can't play for shit, and you cannot bypass that bullshit with a Hamelin Tuner, she has to be really REALLY good with her buffs, right?
Wrong, think again.
Just because partners are not allowed to use specialized equipment nor personalizing enchants, and furthermore, they can't have titles to further boost the music quality, along with reforges and talents, it basically means that no matter how much you grind your Laighlinne, she will never be able to out boost even the most scrub tier of end-tier players. You are better off buffing yourself with your own skills than to depend on Laighlinne to help you with that shit.
Satisfaction gained from purchasing Laighlinne: 2/10. I am sorely disappointed by the fact that even though she's advertised as a Duet partner/ professional musician, my Milletian out plays her in every aspect by miles. Devcat or Nexon could have given her the capability to play all songs perfectly, but no.
Enjoy your purchases, people. For I'm sure disappointed in mine.
What's your opinion, or if there's any way to fix Laighlinne, how?
Kingofrunes wrote on 2016-01-08 02:26
The boat can fly FYI.
Also you can bypass with Hamelin Tuner (For Partners)
Also her Bard Skills and Playing skills do level up with leveling. Just requires a lot of leveling.
You are wrong about so many things.
I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. I just bought a Hamelin Tuner (For Partners) for 10mil (probably could have gotten it cheaper) and now my duet dreams have come to fruition. I never wanted her for the buffs anyways, just for the duet. After all, I would be better off just buffing myself.

Basically, it is a two-seater broom mount, which explains why the speed of it is much slower than many of the available mounts today.
That explains a lot, but I already expected the boat to be able to fly. If it is even incapable of flight, then the rating would have been a lot worse.

Although there is one thing I'm disappointed in, but I already knew this from the KR version. Can't duet Piano which is understandable. I'm sure coding having a partner sit in a chair was a tad bit too much for devcat to handle >.>
Only other complaint I could have is the fact that buff skills don't work like the player ones in the fact that it won't play the full song if you try and use it. Instead you are forced to use Playing Instrument ensuring you either need to:
A) Level her up like crazy (level 45 and only r6 instrument playing)
B) Either do the horrible gach which is loaded with junk in the hopes of getting the Hamelin Tuner (For Partner) or try and find a player selling one and buy it from them :/
So if I'm going to be honest I'd give her a 7/10. Mostly due to the complaints I listed.

Nice rant but I can't say I feel bad for people who bought this partner. They fell for the bait and they knew it even before they paid nexon.

There is actually
a Hamelin Tuner specifically made for partners?
What in the actual fuck?

I give this post a 5/7, a perfect score.

Can she even get music buff duration and effect?

Extremely satisfied doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to give it a perfect score. I had to jump through some unncessary hoops I didn't realize I was going to have to make to get the duet I dreamed of >.>

Not really sure why all the hate on Nexon but w/e I guess that's your beef. I didn't really fall for the bait. I wanted it the moment I saw it in KR. If a person finds enjoyment out of something, what's the big deal? It's their money after all. This is why I tend to dislike the Mabinogi community in general and try and solo the crap out of everything.
Humans are such insufferable creatures *sigh*

Please tell me you are joking when you said there is a seperate Hamelin Tuner made specifically for partners.

lmfao, I wish I wasn't. Nope. Dead serious. It's extremely annoying and clearly a trap devised to shoehorn people into dropping money on the gachapon if people didn't already have a reason to do so. It's really stupid but my desire to duet was stronger than my distaste for it. So I will admit to falling for that trap, that's the only bait I really fell for, mostly out of desperation. I was going to gach anyways for the Lonely Prison and hopefully maybe the Laighlinne Outfit. Only achieved the prison part >.>

There's a special Hamelin Tuner just for partners.
I should say "just for Laighlinne", since no other partner would benefit from its effects.
I guess it has something to do with how partners don't seem to benefit from normal Equipment Set Combination Effects.
Or maybe it's cuz the normal Hamelin Tuner has a Talent restriction and partners don't have talents.

Yes. In fact, if you really went hard core with enchanting gears for her and what not, I believe she can reach up to like 31-33% norm with no musical knowledge effect reforges.

Really hoping there was a reason for needing to make a seperate one. I mean that seems logical and sounds like the obvious reason why it's like this. Although if talent was a reason, they didn't need to slap a talent restriction on it >.> I mean it's not like it actually has an impact on the success requirements as it's all auditory.

But a 7/10 is nowhere near "extremely satisfied". That'd be like a 9.5
