Most of the times, Lullaby won't put everything to sleep, and this especially becomes an issue in 3rd and 4th floors, where mobs (especially gremlins) will notice you right away. In SS modes, where most of the times, monsters' damages are amplified, you can't just walk off after tanking one or two hits, you will most likely be dead. And hence rain cast. Like I said you still can't crisis, and you need the ALL the mobs to be asleep before you can use blaze. So setting up for blaze isn't a fun process in Alban, and you definitely can't use Crisis. Under these conditions, having rain casting, using Crisis Escape to dodge initial aggro, then double Fireball or Crash Shots from farther away are the more practical and viable ways.
I'm not saying you can't Blaze, but if you're going to argue that Blaze is more practical than Lightning Rod, Fireball, or range in Alban, then there is a problem, because even range has less set up than Blaze would.
As for Firebolt vs Range issue, that's situational and personal preference. In 50% max Alban, Firebolt can prove to be useful, but otherwise, it depends on one's own investment. I honestly have enough investment in range and gears to go toe-to-toe with Firebolt users, quite often out DPS them.
If it costs THAT MUCH to invest for a perfect (or really good/decent) archer gears just to be op in magnum and crash shot, I might as well throw my money and time onto mage skills. At least that's better and I only need to aim for magic attack to use the mage skills instead (like fireball, firebolt, blaze, meteor strike etc.) The safest way for me in Alban is to lullaby the mobs, then crisis escape, lullaby again then kill the left overs that aren't asleep then fireball twice. With the left overs, I would use my AoE pets by then and it would clear the room/spawn.
2nd spawn, I'll meteor strike, or do the same.
Crash shot seems a little too risky knowing you're far away from the mobs, but there's a chance you'll miss it OR it didn't kill the bunch you attacked and after using crisis escape and do it again, mobs will run towards you. I doubt some people have effe range reforges on their bow WITH another archer reforge soo..
Mages have more skills than archery so imo, I rather go for mage than archery since I'll only need magic attack on my gears to be able to deal damage in any skills compared to archery.
And by what Kaga meant, he probably meant he rather finish the run quick than hiding and killing them one by one (or playing it the safe way). Because people rarely do Alban (besides for the enchants and the emblems etc), I rather aim for a talent that is/are useful in other runs too, besides raids and girg.
Archery isn't the thing for me in this game because of the NA speed we have, and I'm not in NA, I rather go for something that I can deal damage WITHOUT having great speed.
Fighter is good for me because I have been using it since I came back to this game and most people use fighter in pvp too.
Final hit is good too, but I don't want to see people who focused entirely on final hit to cry if it gets nerf'd one day, which is why I am avoiding final hit and only spam that in Alban (without any final hit gears), else I use mage and fighter with my merlins.
ps. reason why I asked about magnum damage isn't because I meant 'how useful it is in a dungeon/run' but just the actual damage itself.
