As we near the arrival of G20, I have wondered what else is Nexon bringing to the game to keep it going. We have seen new skill sets, story lines, and lots of gachapon content( for their money), but it seems to me like a lot of people are quitting the game. I think Mabi is a great game ( besides the facet that the management blows) but one concern is that the player base of the game seems very stagnant. Furthermore, the players who have stayed through all or almost all the generations are at a point where they are bored and nothing is left to accomplish. So my question is what does the future hold for Mabinogi and its player base ?

Not this thread again...
"Nothing left to accomplish". I see so many players that have been through all the generations accomplish so little. There's lots more they can do, they're just lazy. As for people who actually got lots of shit done, they can still look forward to doing the new things coming out. As we're speaking, BnS is here, and lots of people are playing in its early stage right now, so in the long run, it won't affect Mabinogi much.
Even if NA population goes down by a significant margin, do you honestly think it matters? NA server doesn't have that high of an importance to the main Devil Kitties.
tl;dr Mabinogi is fine, and it doesn't matter to KR people if NA server somehow loses majority of its players.

The truth right there. I almost did everything in Mabinogi so far and I still enjoy going on Mabi to do random things, event, and to socialize with my friends, usually.

While I view it's combat content as dead, it's social aspects is still pretty good.
I still respect mabi for the fact you can make and play your own music, I have yet to see any other mmos do that.

groans.. even when I dont play a game, I check their home page.
To be honest even if mabi is indeed a "Dead" game its doing better than some others out there..

I'm actually looking forward to maple story 2. I don't mind maple story's game play but the graphics bug me.
This just makes me want to play it more.

tl;dr Mabinogi is fine, and it doesn't matter to KR people if NA server somehow loses majority of its players.
Main issues are:
slow content updates (really one per 6 months)
game becoming more and more inaccessible to the "average/casual" player given that much of the new combat content is geared towards 7k+ players (the fact that we're talking about laziness in the context of a game speaks volumes, though that's an issue with the MMO industry as a whole not just Nexon)
Devcat halfassing in everything they do (like the past year of updates for NA is probably a good individual patch for most games)
I think a lot of mabi players were looking for a new game to fall in love with and BNS is it, many, many I talked to feel like mabi is more of a chore than a game, or they log in, afk, sell things, chat and log out. The thing that is keeping mabi alive at least in NA is the social aspects, if all those "lazy" players quit you might as well close the server. And plenty of high end players are quitting or playing less too.

Good games, bad devs. Not much to say.

I wanted all servers to be updated at once. That would help somewhat

I wonder what this would be like in the world of mmos if every localisation got updated at once. I think it would indeed make for more interesting gameplay across the board. When we have months in advance to prepare for content updates, we can use information gathered from the localisation ahead of ours to gain an advantage when it finally gets released in ours. We learn tips, tricks, guides, etc months in advance which I always found to be somewhat unfair (although I've always taken advantage of them) What if we all got content released at the same time? Every version would have the thrill of exploring new content and not knowing what exactly is coming out next. I wonder what it's like in KR and other versions of games like that where everything basically takes them by surprise. Sounds pretty awesome, actually

Yea I figured, once KR information hits the internet, all the surprise is gone. So it becomes more so of a tease than shock lol

In FFXIV it created alot of world competition for first clears on the content (though its a much more competitive game for that kind of stuff). It would make the game more entertaining and not create a whole bunch of spoilers and cause people to get bored of it before it even came to this localization.

Every week without g20 the more dead the game becomes (in terms of activity/population). This is the kind of game that you play intensely for a month or two after a content update then you casually enjoy the social and gacha aspects for 2~3 months before the cycle repeats. Nexon decided to extend the casual social/gacha period much longer than usual this time and combined with the release of other games so many are dropping like flies and learning not to drop any more cash on pixels for a sinking ship.
I was hoping for g20 this week, but nope, so bought BnS premium service today to go play that without queues instead because there's nothing to do in mabi and my pc can't handle both games at the same time.
That said, g20 is more of a bandaid since I mean REALLY other than 3 skill changes and a new pet gimmick it barely offers any more content than Samhain and its gacha did. If it takes another 6+ months to get to the good stuff like the dungeon renewal then they'll have to do some massive adjustment to free content (like they did with rebirths and inventory+) to draw people back in.
The game itself will probably be fine for years to come though, due to the nature of MMOs there'll always those who will spend any amount to look prettier in a new dress or to youtube higher damage lines even if everyone else leaves to go through other games. And like ironwoman said, the NA branch is probably the least of their worries.

I don't know about you, but I am feeling a sore lack of Detective Outfits. Few have it, few are selling it. Did BnS take our paying players or something?

That one has little to do with activity or BnS.
Few people want to spend on a gacha that's literally the same as beauty gachapon (something released twice in the past few months and massively given away for FREE as a hot time) with only +3 new outfit sets.
