I have rank B Alchemy.
It is getting tiresome to keep on chopping wood to make barrier crystals to fulfill the requirements.
Is there an easier way to rank up Alchemy?

Frozen Blast.
Collecting the ingredient for the crystals is rather easy. Just punch away those snowmen in Sidhe Sneachta. Ranking the skill requires some bit of AP as well.
Some people also do Summon Golem, but just requires some mining at the quarries in Sliab Cuilin.
Frozen Blast is the easiest though. But the success rate is rather low towards the beginning.

AM is one of the harder skills to rank D: Also i would continue with barrier crystals, maybe buy the wood :O i see some people selling stacks because of carpentry and this skill until you hit r1 Barrier spikes :O It's a great skill to have, but if you don't care about it or never use it then just use frozen crystals, probably the easiest way to do it.

An alternative to chopping could be this:

Get Frozen Blast to Rank D.
It gives most percentage over the ap spent.

Barrier spikes is still the fastest.
The trouble with frozen blast is that you have to spend the AP on requisites like water cannon and windblast I think?
The one thing I can suggest is to dual-client and chop wood on both windows simultaneously, with characters that have free newbie service (and backpack), high-ranked production mastery and also Paladin transformation (mainly for the stamina). It worked for me, you get like twice the amount of wood in the same amount of time. The other thing is to run shadow missions, training as per normal and make it a habit to pick up spare wood. You can ask your guildmates to do this if they have enough inventory space.

If you have any amount of patience, wait until G13. The skill requirements will be cut in half.

Be like me and rank up Alchemy Master while you train Barrier Spikes with Carpentry leftovers.
Or Frozen Blast your way through, if you have the AP.

Frozen Blast is by far the fastest way, but rate of success is low.
Im at Rank 2, and i did Barrier spikes, and at Rank 5, its ussually 99%. After a certian rank you will recieve structure prof, which is very helpful, but as ranks go on, you wont get crystal prof from barrier spikes, just placeing them. Because what replaces that, is magical crystals.
Barrier Spikes or Golem is the best Choice, and out of both of them Barrier Spikes is the easiest to rank, period.

I have rank 3 Barrier Spikes, so I can easily make Barrier Spikes Crystals.
It's such a pain to keep gathering wood.
I will try and rank up Frozen Blast, but does anybody know if this is a useful skill?

Not a lot of people will spend time to freeze a monster when they can either:
1) Range it with AR/Elf Shot/Magnum, which all ignores what the monster is doing
2) WM...
3) OHKO with Smash (or whatever).
Also, pet distraction or whatever helps as well, which reduces the need for it to be frozen.
The problem with Frozen Blast is that if it fails, you are in trouble because of how close you are to the monster.
While there are uses for it, the chances to actually use it is very rare for many people. I think the best thing about it is the +30 stamina, which still applies even if you don't use it.
However, it is great in PvP. Victims of it in pvp will rage at you while you freely smack them.

i heard they are useful for blinkers~
i think the only way to defeat them well is by using frozen blast / ice spear, the last time i checked wiki.

Let's say you spent an hour gathering snowball, then an hour on gathering wood, then an hour gathering cullen stones.
The one you will collect the most will be snowball and it won't take much space on you too.
at rB alchemy mastery and rD frozen blast, 2 full inventory (get a friend to help xP) is enough to rank it completely (assuming u got the kill/defeat req done).
It is like how you should rank mana crystalization to r9 when you are training alchy r2, using a bit of ap will save you a lot more trouble than trying to save ap a bit.
*but in the end, ice spear will beat any of the three.*

It's very useful. A frozen monster is a dead monster, in most instances at least.
Good party skill, I'll say.
And the success is boosted further by Wind Alchemy Mastery later in G13. There's also a new Wind Cylinder which further increases the freezing time and angle of freezing through upgrades. :)
Freezing monsters with Heavy Stander, like those Shadow Ghosts, allow you to Smashmill without interruption.
