  It's always been impossible because of fractional banking. It's impossible to pay back the debt because the debt exceeds the quantity of money that exists. Something like for every 1 penny owned by the US government (and its banks/citizens), they owe 1.1 pennies back to the federal reserve. To eliminate debt you need to eliminate the federal reserve, like some president did a while back (forgot his name).
  
  Also, recessions always 'get better', you could have put a gorilla into office and let things run their course and the recession would improve. In fact you'd probably be out of the middle east too, with all the troops busy farming bananas.

  The recession is getting worse, a trend which I've seen with City of Los Angeles jobs and the prices of houses in Las Vegas. Obama really needs to put his full effort on the economy, or his reelection bid will end up like George H.W. Bush's.

  There should be no republican or democrats ever again. Obama's slogan about change is correct, we do need change. Away from a 2-party system. It's not too different in Canada, it's always down to 2 groups. Now if you look at Sweden, they actually got a pirate party into a couple of seats, that's a good start.
