Pretty sure they put the whole fire out, or at least enough so that it wouldn't spread. I think the phrased 'watched it burn' was using more for poetic effect.

In that case, then why is this even on the news LOL?
It's in the news because headlines are what make money. This is a headline, however misleading.
If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help him with it.
Exodus 23:5
I thought
The pay for fire fighters came from the sky high taxes that almost all Americans pay
Or is it this town choose not to tax their people and just split it up
Morally, I question the type of society American is becoming where money is placed in front of life and assistance.
Why not stop at fire fighting? If a person didn't pay for the ambulance should he die on the road?
If anything this shows more of a decline in society.
For a country that keeps touting itself as a "Christian" nation, its acts speaks to the opposite to the teachings of the bible.
Legally, the fireman didn't have to put out the fire, because there was no duty to help him because the homeowner didn't pay the $75.
The homeowner is a fool because didn't think his house would burn down.
Instead of saving $75 he lost over tens of thousands of dollars on his home.

Who says this country considers it self christian?
Your better off calling this country a metling pot of rebels, escapees, free thinkers etc
It has been so since the founding. But during counter culture revolution, 1960s?, that notion has become weaker and weaker.
Now we even question ourselves if we are still a christian nation.
*edit1: Using "Melting Pot" to describe America is inaccurate.
Nowadays, people use "Salad Bowl" to describe America.
