This is the sixth time that gameabout interviewed devcat.
Recently, devcat decided to have two directors and their name are Moon Sung Joon (we know him as the guy who came up with evil job system, which was changed for the better) and Jo De-eng Hyun (seriously idk if English is capable of saying that name). The two directors have different views in how mabinogi should be like (yay bilegislature government lol). Moon Sung Joob is in charge of contents (life skill, etc). Jo De-eng Hyun is in charge of service (making sure new players can enjoy mabi). Even though they are two different people, they will still work together to make mabinogi better.

GA: There has been a lot of glitches lately. Will they be fixed soon?
J: We are testing fixes on test server. They will prob be fixed with the november update.
GA: Can you tell us about next update?
J: Thinking of coming up with new enjoyment that is different than the current mabi. They are contents that deal with life component (kinda vague >_<). With the november update, we will have generation stories to previous generations that didn't have one (COUGH IRIA RENEWAL). And by December, we are hoping to release g14.
GA: Will bow mastery be out?
J: Currently, we are developing it, when we are done, we will release it. (but its just a passive skill... PROCRASTINATORS)
GA: AR and Mirrage Buff plox?
M: We are thinking about it, but due to the nature of range, we prob won't.
GA: A skill for emergency escape in case of arrows missing?
J: We are concerned about how to do this. I don't think it should be too hard for players.
M: A skill could be a solution, but it is mainly connection's fault. I think taking out the root of the problem is best.
GA: A heavy armor that elves can wear came out. Your opinions on it?
J: Other than elf heavy armor, there are other items that came out. this will be obtained in process of one race obtaining other race's skills (OMG WTF HAX). But we are worried if this will crush the balance into bits and pieces.
M: Dragon Rider is a special exception (my ass)
GA: Golem is the origin for reduced party play enjoyment and conflict among players. Balancing it soon?
J: We looked at the feedback and this is indeed a problem. We are thinking of changing the skill.
M: Since long time ago, we were planning to nerf it, but we felt bad for players who ranked it so we were in direction of reducing number of golem crystals. We are not sure about balancing the skill, but the golem size will definitely go down.
GA: Players terrorize towns with duel glitch (able to attack anyone?) and mimic statues. Any way to prevent that?
M: We will think about remedy that.
GA: Duel no dura loss and no cooldown time plox?
M: We investigated users that dueled at least 4 times and most of them dueled at 5%. Due to our lack of developer resources, we won't be able to change things like changing option when dying, but we will change it so that no dura is lost in duel.
GA: Instrument or Jam session related updates?
M: Right now, update is difficult
J: We are preparing a small event. GM music festival event will be official and is planned on October.
GA: Hows Ego Weapon change going?
J: We have to take great concern in the fact that every ego weapon is unique and has its pros and cons. We are looking at suggestions, but its not confirmed how to change the system.
GA: Shadow Clone Jutsu was in the packs. WTF is this? Are you gonna add this?
J: Its for oversea stuff. It's in korean just for testing reasons. It could be added on KR mabi, but possibilities are still open.
GA: How do you come up with Dungeon/Mission difficulties?
J: Difficulty is really subjective. There are beginner dungeons that are purposely made hard and there are dungeons that are hard even though we didn't mean it. We collect information about how many times players clear a certain dungeon/mission and we use that data to determine how hard a new dungeon/mission should be. This way we can fix parts we have to fix.
GA: There has been an idea to make a list so that it is easier to ask royal alchemists for help. How do you think about it?
M: That suggestion could work, but originally we made royal alchemists so that they help voluntarily. We are wondering if it is right to put that responsibility more apparent.
GA: Do you monitor our website?
J: We do. Although we don't participate in it, we still look at the debate section (this is the part of the forum where players complain then discuss about certain contents in mabinogi. A lot of good ideas come from here).
