The Chinese government was asking for an apology from the Japanese government, not the citizens.
They refused.

Well then that sucks. But I wasn't talking about that. I was just talking about how I hate how citizens have to discriminate each other because of things that aren't related to them. If you didn't have an active role in it, then it wasn't your fault. This world could do with a little more love than all this hate.
Anyways, I'm not even sure what we're talking about anymore in this thread. o.O

Because the matters in this world are much more connected than we think. Discussion of one topic can lead to another.

WEll you're right in some ways... kinda wrong in other ways and Chillax is right, everything is connected. But let me point out one thing. Why does it matter whether its your fault or not? What's done is done, just get over it and move on. The people who wronged others should be prosecuted and everyone should just deal with it. I'm not saying that you should forget. But i'm saying that its pointless to hold a grudge over something as stupid as that. What's it gonna help you with if arabs hate americans and vice versa over a grudge of over 100 years ago? Why? What's the point? Whats done has been done. It's not gonna change the fact that america invaded iraq or afghanistan. Neither is it gonna change the fact that 9/11 happened. Just move on. If you keep hating on for generation, you're only gonna create more destruction; and that's what's been happening for generations. Everyone's done it. The french fighting the english. The americans vs arabs. Even the canadians vs the americans (when america invaded canada and canada retaliated and burned the white house down). But now thankfully canada and america are on respectable terms. The same goes for the chinese and japanese. Why dont they stop whining and get over their complexities. I really hate it when people complain and whine and *****. Stop *****ing and relax jeez >.> This whole debate is pretty pointless since you're not gonna solve anything by arguing about whether the japanese should apologize or not. What's it gonna do? NOTHING. Is it gonna bring back all those dead people? NO. So why even bother? you're just wasting your time.
Take care,

It's a matter of honor. People have pride, and people are proud of their country and heritage. To disrespect one's country is like disrespecting yourself.
Since you seem to have no understanding nor care for the pride and love people have for their countries, we can't expect you to understand the importance of these issues.
If someone walks up to you and slaps you, are you going to shrug it off and walk away because nothing you do can take back the slap? No. You do something about it, whether it's directly fighting back or reporting it.

I think you completely missed my point. But I'm not going to restate it because this thread seems more towards "arguing" than "intelligent debate" right now, and I don't want to argue with anyone.

My parents can be like that, and generally anyone older than me in the family. They have tendencies to make fun of everyone but then claim it's not racist, and they even do this with other Latino cultures. Bugs me to no end. x.e

My view of ethnocentrism:
I'm Vietnamese. I'm dating a Mexican girl.

I think screaming "I'M MEXICAN" at your mom has become a life goal of mine. >D
