Well, with everything G8/G9 has brought us, It's made me start to wonder: Are LLB's really viable or are they completely outclassed by the other bows? For beginners, it was recommeded to use t he critical path of the LLB. Now however, you could use an Elven Long Bow, it has higher crit, similar range and requires less prof. Only downside is it's annoying to find higher dur versions(iirc the only high dur is from Nied, the mutated Lapras). What about the highest max damage path? It has 20% crit? What can really beat that and has similar range? Let's take a look at the forgotten cousin of the LLB, the Long Bow. With the Highest Max and Crit path, you have similar max damage and much higher crit, albeit with 1900 range, which isn't bad at all. They also come in higher dur versions, I have one myself and it has 36% crit, and 45 max attack. Of course, it has 3% balance due to having 38% when I bought it and it did come with 14 dur, but the old man failed one of the repairs :(. With all of this being said, are Leather Long Bow's stil viable as one of the best bows or have they really lost a lot of their fame and power?

Me personally I strayed off the LLB path once Ring Bows came out cause my friend was giving me a steady supply of them <3 Then before everyone had a ring bow I switched to Elven Bows cause again my friend was giving me a steady supply <33
I still use my Elven Bow but am probably gonna switch back to an LLB just cause I miss the range on those suckers. LLB's are most notably seen in PvP nowadays though

That was a fast response O_o. You say you miss the range on the LLB's, but remember Elven Long Bows can have 2200 range, the highest for all the easily obtained bows, more than the LLB. In fact, I got a Elven Long Bow upgraded for the higher max damage farther range path, mainly for Rabbie arena, but I use it in PvP at times as well.

Mhm. I know but you cant not deny the sexiness of the LLB.
In all serious I'm too lazy to upgrade my Elven Bow cause I grind, grind, grind, grind and dont stop till I pass out

Ego LLBs are still popular, but I don't use LLBs any more...
I switched to ELB for the range.

Leather Long Bows still make good egos even when Ring Bows get egoable. Leather Long Bow Egos are cheaper to maintain getting higher damage much sooner. Ring Bows sacrifice too much Critical for their damage.
As for non-egos. I'm not too fond of the Elven Long Bow but the Leather Long Bow still is a good bow out of character creation. Once you get enough balance, however, Long Bows are the bows to use.

I'm sticking with leather long bows unless the other bows have enchants on them and more dura, like my intricate hitting long bow with 13 dura. I only use it because it gives 16 dex; I still prefer my 190 leather long bow with intricate kobold.
Another reason is the colour; I'm finicky. I only use white/black/event llbs, and other bows have to be either purple or rare-coloured [if they're shop-bought].

And once we get carpentry, ESBs will outclass the other bows.
Except the Wing bow, for critical purposes.
Actually. Probably don't have to wait for carpentry, since Neid drops those with +stats also...though I know the Tara SM drop +stat ones aswell.

Agreed with Kyou, the LLB as an ego is still very popular and is still one of the best bow egos (rivaled only by the Ring Bow ego really), but the Long Bow outclasses it overall once you can handle the low balance. Higher max, MUCH higher crit, the only thing LLB has over it is range and that's a matter of 1900 vs. 2100 (which is not that much in a dungeon room, 1900 range will still cover the majority of a dungeon room if you're standing in the center).
While I am very biased towards Long Bows, I wouldn't say the LLB is no longer good; heck, I wouldn't even say the Elven Long Bow is clearly better either. Comparing the two similar builds between the LLB and the ELB, (190 and 194 respectively), the LLB has 4 higher Max but the ELB has 5% more crit; it's really up to the user to take their pick between those two. However, I will concede the point that the ELB has more viable builds than the LLB, but I don't think that makes it just outclass the LLB by itself, since the most common builds for the two are very similar, as described above. The other two viable builds for the ELB are sorta "specialty" type builds: Crit and Range.
Adori mentioned the Elven Short Bow, and those base stats alone look extraordinarily impressive (imagine the +stats from higher grade ones), but the Fast attack speed makes me cringe as an elf. The short stun time combined with the short range on an elf spells disaster in my mind; one miss and you're screwed. I feel like only humans using AR can use the ESB safely (which is ironic because it's an Elven Short Bow).

Personally I'm still using my Leather Long Bow 240 path, back when I prefered Min and Crit over balance and Max but I suppose its time to upgrade so I'll have a look.
149 Elven Long - 2200 Range 37 Max 10 Crit
190 LLB - 2100 Range 41 Max 20 Crit
153 Long Bow - 1900 range 43 Max 33 Crit
230 Ring - 1700 range 53 max 1 crit
Theres also the rare wing bow which you can either go for a path of 2300 range or a whooping 68% crit, however at the cost of Max Dmg.
By the looks of things the Leather Long Bow is really a bow which is best at none, good at all bow. A hybrid so to speak. Its Max is fairly high, crit is acceptable and the range is decent, its also popular for egos cause it comes in colours and is easy to repair.
I think I might consider getting an Elven Long for PVP and 230 Ring for general dungeons, the crit I can make up with a stiff hat and will and I'm not at the point where monsters have 30 protection

?????????????4???????(9)
For those without nico,
?????????????4 (sm9383261) - ???????
That is Hard Mode.
Maybe ESB won't be ideal for bad connections, but I don't think the other bows can outperform it.
The ESB is also the best bow when catering to end game elf play. Stun probably doesn't matter when pretty much everything is dead in the first or second shot anyway.
Though I like all bows, they're fun to switch between.
I can't wait to get my hands on a +4 dur ESB and take it the 103 path, probably put Glorious Spike Enchants on it... and that's an ACE bow right there...but then again any bow with glorious spike is probably top of the line.

The cat doesn't really care about range, the cat prefers dmg & crit in bows
