...the skill Blacksmithing.
Especially when I look at how those blacksmithers on the server being able to support their service status easily just by selling a few dustin armors or weapons. I'm a little envious of how they can be this self-sufficient.
All of a sudden, I have this desire again to actually start doing something about it. Yet every single time, something is holding me back from taking any action on it. I don't exactly know what it is, but I have a few clues about my feelings.
Firstly, for all the tips that I get or can find, I'm still not really satisfied with all the answers. For instance, I don't know what am I to do with the funding for this skill. I don't even think 20 million is enough for a start.
The next thing is that there are a few blanks going on in my head about the estimate figures for blacksmithing that I get from people on the server I play at. What I heard that a lot of blacksmithers do at the start is to buy gold from the bots and then just spam the money. Back then, a friend told me that the estimated amount to Rank 1 blacksmithing was 6000R (901 USD). In terms of game gold, that's about 75,000 million gold. How on earth can anyone hope to get this sort of money?? Or is this amount overexaggerated? The real life figure doesn't seem to look like a problem, but the amount as in-game gold does give me the shivers. Pretty sure some people make more than 901 USD in a month or within a year, but this does not seem possible in the game.
The other thing to consider is the strength of the currency, which is yet another baffling question for me but not too much of my concern here.
I'm at Rank C blacksmithing, 86.00 with all great successes done. Someone please tell me what to do if I have to get this skill up to a numbered and profitable rank.

Get a good friend to be a supplier. You can get cheaper prices and help out a friend. And look at those shiny armors everyday. Just know that eventually youll be there. And as soon as you reach the rank where you can make broads (A)? if there above base you can make some cheap money.

Yeah, If you're on Alexina I'll gladly supply you ingots half off.

Judging from my friends' case(hes r4 blacksmith)
what I heard is after you reach a decent rank.(In my friends' case that would be 7) you can earn more than enough money for premium service, Rb cards and housing. I don't know how exactly he does it but he can earn upto 30-50mil a month.
75,000 million gold is a little bit too exaggeraed
Since you can earn yourself a decent income on high ranks.
Money, isn't the main problem.
Its the time and ingridents that makes blacksmith hard.

I'm re-looking at Meiya's guide. It's helping out a lot. Rank C costs were accurate, at least for my case. I'm hoping the rest will be too.
My current supplies aren't enough to reach rank 9, main problem being high straps and I only have potentially 250 straps. (That's 25 more stacks of high leathers that I lack.) Common leathers are also going to be a major problem but I can solve this by rafting just as I am going to for iron ingots.
I did a little more research. High grade leather goes for 40k, highest 80-120k. It will definitely break my bank in the long run so I need to find funding somehow. I have 10 million in reserve for up to rank 9.
My main problem is going to be braids and leather, and also iron ingots. Iron ingots I can handle through rafting, as for braids I need to find the time to make them, they don't seem too difficult. Leathers probably are what I need to buy.
I really hope that it will pay off at Rank 7. It doesn't seem too far away as long as I can keep up with the schedule. Maybe in half a year or so.

On Mari to r1 is about 500 million gold. To acheive mastery would be 10 billion gold. Your a high enough level to do the methods I've used in the past for money. As well as normal to intermediate hardmode alby/ciar/rundal to sell those vintage items. Ciar Adv for Stamp items. Barri Adv for avenger ES scrolls. Barri Basic for the meditation book.

The new answer once you hit rank 6-4 is to use brionic. Its alot of AP but my guildmaster went from rank 4- 1 in 2 months combining brionic with heavy focus on the skill.
Is high grade same as fine/finest? If so your server is incredibly high priced. Thank goodness I play on Alexina.

Yea I meant fine and finest grades. I was talking about a stack (of ten leathers) when I said about the prices.
Iron ingots go for between 32k-35k a stack. Standard price.
I refuse to touch brionac as much as possible, but I may consider. How much AP did it cost him to get from Rank 4-1 with the brionac repair costs?

You could just hunt everything your self, you don't NEED to buy anything. best way to get a skill done i s just do, for every moment you spend crying about is a momenmt you could have got something done.

It takes too much time. Especially leathers.
I did major organisation of all the leathers I have kept on various accounts today. After playing for two years and keeping all the leathers I have, I have only enough fine leathers for half a rank.
What I can do is to wait and observe when leathers are cheap or around desirable market pricing and buy them slowly.

In my very limited experiences with Blacksmith (I've only gotten as far as you have, so this is mostly just observations), you will not be able to save up enough of anything on your own. Even the very low ranks will eat up all your reserves before you know it, so you have to start looking for reliable suppliers and pretty much fund your way to the numbered ranks. At that point you should be able to break even or at least be able to make back some of the money you invest, but suppliers/friends/guild members will always play an essential role when it comes to gathering materials.
Yes, by numbers alone the skill is incredibly intimidating, but like enchant, it's not something you're supposed to do on your own. Guild members and friends are usually willing to help, and there are always people with spare mats looking for someone who will unconditionally take them for a reasonable price (below market price, even).

Have you looked into rafting to supply some of your own supplies? You can easily get iron ingots and braids from it. Grab a few friends and you can easily get many common leathers (15 for each person on the raft). Yes fine and finest leathers are a hassle but if you buy every once in a while, you'll find it builds up without draining all of your gold. I have about two bank tabs of fine and finest straps and I don't really feel much of a dent in my bank. Fine and finest leathers go for 80k and 100-120k, respectively here. If you have some nx, you could also use those life skill potions to get through the high costs of great successes.
Blacksmithing doesn't seem to be too hard of a skill.. it's just a matter of finding the will to store up soooo many mats and actually sitting down and blacksmithing. Definitely not a casual skill you can halfheartedly do in your spare time.

If your friend bionac 4-1 then he used 1080 ap in two months. Its 360ap per rank if you do the lowest amount training required.
