Partially the reason why I'm trying to avoid public places.
I used to give out gold, even to some strangers, but I've become stingy with the strangers because... yeah.

One of my good friends was talking about how he wanted some fancy boots. It was so long ago that I don't remember what kind of boots they were, but I ended up buying them for him at 600k. And he kept telling me not to, but I bought it anyway.

Personally, I really hate beggars. Whenever strangers ask for money, I often say, "Why can't you make the money yourself?" The most common response I get is how???? (multiple question marks x_x) Running dungeons, shadow missions are not that hard. If I ever have someone tell me, it's boring, or I'm too lazy, I'd probably say "Then why are you playing an MMORPG? If you really want it, you'll be diligent and make the money yourself, otherwise, if you're too lazy to make the money, then you don't really need it at the moment. Part of my belief comes from when I bought my Val armor. It cost 5mil and was redish and blackish. I did Albey Red runs everyday and made around 150-200k each day. I worked hard to get the money for it, and when I was finally tired of doing runs, I was short by around 300k or so. I asked my guild leader to loan me some money so I could get it myself, and after he reminded me no one ever paid him back, he trusted me enough. I bought the Val armor and when I made more money again, I paid him back. I tend to keep my word often.

When randoms ask me for gold, I ignore them. When "friends" that added me, and asks me for money, I tell them I am poor. Depending on their attitude, I may or may not delete them right away.
I only lend money to really close friends, and/or guild members that I can trust. Then again, some guild members want to borrow a few million for some big project, and I am like I don't even have a million.
I hate it when randoms see you have extremely high cp, and in some certain guild, and they assume you are loaded with money.

I only lent money when there was an item someone really wanted that would likely disappear in a few hours. I dressed in regular robes most of the time, so most of the people I ran into didn't ask for money. If someone I didn't know asked me for money, I'd ask them back for the same amount, and then they would stop bothering me.

I'm very strict with lending out items or gold. I turn down 90% of requests. Blame it on people having their accounts stolen and me having to face the risk of items not being returned (my scarecrow set was gone because of someone's friend abusing his trust and trading away the account without his permission and never got the account back. Losing scarecrow set was ok since it is easily replaceable. What bites is a close encounter with the loss of -CP equipment. My -CP equipment almost faced the same fate. Thankfully I took them back in time.)
If I can absolutely trust that person to return it, I'll lend it. They are definitely responsible people. However, for -CP equips, I have to stress on them getting their own set of -CP equipment when they can afford it and not always rely on borrowing.
Exceptional cases, only money, but I need to set out a due date and the person has to have a really valid reason. If the person is borrowing money to buy stuff like gacha, that's a big no. I had that once and I had to explain to the person why I'm not willing to lend that.

Wow, you actually lend out -CP equipment? I'd be extremely reluctant to lend out any of my -CP equipment considering how much time it took to farm most of them. I'd rather not buy a replacement for my -CP equipment if I can avoid doing so altogether.
I don't get to many requests for giving out gold to people since I spend a lot of time spamming shadow missions, but when someone does ask me, I usually turn them down unless they only want a small amount of gold.

I almost never get asked and if I do, it's either someone on my friends list (I delete randoms so it would be a somewhat friend) or a guildie...and I look like this.
[Image: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/sokymo/Mabinogi/LillinReference12.jpg]
But anyways, I wouldn't lend out large amounts of money to someone unless they were a really close friend. My guild leader just lent me 5 mil the other day. ;) Since my house is expiring soon though, I can pay him back quickly with the check the house makes.
I remember one time I lent 20k to a "somewhat friend" and he never paid me back. In fact, I never saw him log on after that... >___>
I used to be able to make large amounts of money every week hunting for EJ3 and selling, but now the prices have dropped so low. Still nothing to sneeze at though I suppose, since the dungeon itself gives nice EXP too.

Ravendor don't feel guilty to say no. You earned that money. (unless you a scammer which I HIGHLY doubt). You think you get asked alot? Try wearing a dragon shield around. Some players walk around nakid in those 500g noob robes from tir and only equip items when they drop into dungeons because people are constantly begging. I don't know where this started but if you beg me you will get 1 of 2 things. Either just a flat no or a LONG boring conversation about persnal responsibility. I hate beggers.
Now on the other hand if someone I have known for a long time asks thats a person to person basis. If its a amount of gold they can make reasonably fast and just don't want to miss a deal, and I have it, I'll probrably lend it to them. Now if evertime I get a note from that person (even if they pay it back) its to borrow somethin or money then eventually I delete them. Leeches are just as bad.

I'm a miser in general and hate to give out money. But with friends (read: close friends) I'm different. Since all of my friends are dirt poor I help them out financially by selling their stuff in my house with no fee, buying mats from them I'd normally get myself, etc. And whenever one of my friends starts playing mab I give them 50k to start off, cuz you need money to make money. I do that in every mmo though.

Geez... 20% interest on 5mil is a lot. I bet you could live on just lending interest.
There are times i am in a good mood and i absolve the debt.
When i got shock page one i absolved several 1m+ debts.

I'm a pauper with a terrible spending habit, so I'm broke, like, ALL THE TIME.
I never sink so low as to consistently ask for money, just the occasional material thing. :3
On the flip side, I'm not asked for money at all! For once, being poor makes me less miserable than the rest of you! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

When I used to play the only people who asked me for money were random beggars and I just pretended not to see them.
I think most of my friends knew that I was obsessive about my money.

With everyone in Mabinogi, I usually turn down requests for gold and the like. For my one RL friend, we both financially aid each other(sharing CP equips, giving each other useless Crystals/Pots we don't need to use), and if my friend wanted to get something(EX: IS2) and wanted to buy it, I offered to help him get it himself, which we did and it netted me one too for my slow collection of pages for random skills I want to get in the future. When it comes to gold though, I never really lend him anything since I'm so picky with it. Items: sure. Gold: no way mang.
Guildies are ehh if I feel generous. If someone random is asking for a couple of gold, I'll hand them 2K or so. Only if they look like they're new to the game or aren't very good at it however, and are running SMs/dungeons with me.
