It may not literally give you happiness, but it does give you a sense of comfort. If money does not bring happiness, why don't rich people get rid of their money?

Some of the arguments I have to debate in a few days, I'm against the notion of ''Money = Happiness''. Would be great to have a debate over here first.

I think so. It not only brings the comfort of financial security, it buys things that make you happy.

It all depends on how you spend your money really. Money cannot directly buy happiness, but it can help you pursue it. If you look at it the other way, having no money makes you sad, as you feel the financial strain of modern day life. Therefore I think money does in a way bring happiness.

Of course money brings happiness.
Anyone who think otherwise have never been completely broke before. Life is really hard if you don't have any money. All of us here do have some money or someone supporting you with money in order to see this thread.

If you want to go against the notion here's one: Wherever you got your money, chances are that that the money was taken from another person. Or the money you spend on items may go to a warlord whose fighting for control of precious metal mines in South Africa where people die gathering materials to make products that we use everyday.

Money makes life easier. It allows us to buy and do the things we want to do. Go on vacation, romantic dinners with a loved one, buying your kids their favorite toys for Christmas or even paying for NX to buy things in Mabinogi.
Money gives us the freedom to do all of that. Therefore, yes, money does bring happiness.

Money definitely makes you happy. If your not financially successful then I'd expect you'd likely to be stressed, depressed, etc.

Btw, I just watched Wall Street 2, was a big fail.
I think money only brings happiness when it comes with a sense of acknowledging how much a dollar is worth. I mean, when you earn money with your hard work and spend it (actually trade it; your work for something you want) it feels good. Whether it's for buying something for yourself or taking your girlfriend to the movies, you feel it's well deserved. I think money is just a vehicle.

I would sure be happy to be able to buy a plane ticket, a bouquet of roses and be able to drive right up to her door.

Well think about it.
What makes you happy?
Can money lead to it or help it become reality?
What makes you unhappy?
Can money prevent it or assist in preventing it?
Overall, money is everything. So pretty much yes.

There are things money can't buy, but there are also a lot of things it can buy, so I'll just say yes. Being able to afford things I like makes me happy. Not being able to doesn't. There's also this to consider. I fell in love with someone, and it wasn't for the money, that's for sure. However, we'd both like to be financially stable, so we want the comfort only money brings. In that sense, I'd also say yes. I wouldn't call it the origin of happiness as much as I'd say it's a source for comfort a good chunk of the time.

Money gives us freedom to buy things that make us happy, but it can't directly buy us happiness. It's just a part of the bigger picture - you need money, family, friends, among other things to make you happy.
