I was surprised nobody brought it over from guru, it was the most comprehensive WM guide and many people used it.

Actually, no.
In some of the servers, there's this thing called China Dragon Armor which boosts attacking speed. I've seen elves attacking really fast. They do make human archers look useless.
Elves are unrivalled when it comes to magnum spamming. I've yet to see a human doing that at their speed.
Also, one thing to note, I will lag a lot when there is an elf in the party, due to the numerous attacks they using within a single time.
This... this makes my pants feel tight.

The way i see it, If your quick enough, And you can wall spam AR with a human, your set :D However, Elves, Although may take time to reach Elf Range > AR They pay off, i remember doing a dungeon with a Rank 1 AR, i could aim, shoot and kill before he even got 60% :O
Also, you dont NEED Elf-lag fix, its just fuxxin' epic sauce if you have it ;D

Elf range beats Human range in most aspect.
Elf range constantly stuns the monster due to firing two arrows at once. AR is slower because you need to hold for your 5th shot if you hit first 4 shots.
No dispute on Magnum, it's obvious that elves have a clear edge.

I'm rather certain OP got his question answered weeks ago and has been playing on his giant...

Basically if you don't have the range glitch, don't lag and can actually load&shoot every .5 seconds, elf is win and superior in range. The time they execute mag and the crits from your usual range is pretty much on a level of it's own, don't forget the stam usage too, if you're just standing there shooting without mag, you'll hardly be using 2 - 3 stam.
If you lag a bit, have time/money on your hands and the ap to spend it, ar is probably the way to go, I have ar myself, but that's because I had it before elves came out, so it was a bit late to turn back. But ar is a stam waster for sure, the loading time for ar is slower too so elves will beat you there, but you do get shot bonus' and the nice aim speed bonus with the first shot (Ranks 5 and above).

To be honest, if you're going to make a beginner ranger, make it a elf with a Crossbow.
But ranged in general.. I prefer humans, because they can do good damages and have no ranged lag.
Elves misses too much on the Ranged, which is why I went mage on my elf.
editted:: Plus at r1 ranged, elves get only 200%, while humans get 300%, lol.
