Okay, I've been playing as an Evie for quite sometime. One thing I wonder from time to time especially after joining a party and seeing tons of Sythe Evie's is, just how many Pure Staff Evies like me exist?
I only have rF Sythe skills...but I have maxed firebolt, magic arrow, magic mastery, magic crit, SP:Bind Arrow, Create Golem, Healing, Eagle Talon. All I lack to finish up my magic is to finish maxing Golem Mastery (rB atm), Stam Recovery (rB atm), and Regeneration (rC).
Now, my damage is pretty good, but in a party I really shine healing my team members quickly as long as they don't go all Lann Suicidal on me >.<
Thus, I find myself able to easily solo missions with Golem + Firebolt + Spears + Bind Arrow + Magic Arrow.
Anyways...If you are a pure staff evie give me a shout!

Lol ya, working on finishing my golem mastery then was planning on going over to stam regen. Broke off yesterday to get rB staff mastery to prep for the update this week so that I can get the Blooming Staff (DO WANT!)

I was a Staffie, but I just found Scythe more satisfying. I'll use a staff from time to time when I get tired of using my Scythe and abuse Rank 9 Magic Arrow. :d

<3 Staffy here. :D Supposed to be Support Type, but that didn't last long because .. well.. xD there's not enough support stuff to put AP into.
Also, there have been more and more Staffies popping up due to boat four. @_@ I actually had two (or was it three?) pop into a random party we had for Hidden. One of them wasn't bad too! :D

I'm a damage whore so I only like to use staffs when I'm really bored D: And fireball recharge is way too low, and it only does as much damage as one of my snaps, sooo... yeah.
Might pick up staff on the 12/15 update though.

It's called firebolt, does more damage than any snap (assuming equal rank/magic attack), and it can easily hit a lot more targets than is possible with any snap skill.

And the only way it'll do more damage than a snap is if the rank is higher. At the same exact ranks, it does the same damage, but it's a small area nuke that you can pop twice in 10 seconds if you stun the boss the first time. Otherwise, damage is too slow compared to Thread/DL spamming.

The difference is that I can use a snap every 6 to 8 seconds. Even if Firebolt did 3 times the damage as my strongest snap, my snaps will still kill the bosses faster.

What it comes down to in the end is your playing style. Personally I don't use Sythe Evie because it feels too much like melee at which point I would go Fiona or Lann if I wanted to do melee attacks. That's my reason why I choose staff even though it's slower than a Sythe Evie...to me a staff Evie truly is PURE magic.

^ Yes, I think the main reason I don't play a staff is because there are only two choices for spells, aside from healing.
I might eventually hybrid when Icebolt comes out, otherwise, I feel too restricted playing as a staff.
I do switch over to staff every now and then because I like being a support character.

I don't play evie, but I know two friends who play pure staff(alt), and a bunch that was going for pure staff and decided to switch to scythe.
One thing I do noticed though, is that most good staff users have a different character as main.
Staff is hard to use well, but many just don't realize that since they never had another character.

How did you come to this conclusion? I'm asking for your source of information, not your opinion of me.
Here's mine:

Don't forget that staff Evies can also drop a back-to-back Blind Arrow as well as a double Firebolt. In my view, staff Evies are more for burst damage, while scythe Evies have better damage over time.
@Whyrainfalls
As far as skills go, I guess you're referring to Firebolt and Magic Arrow? Those are the only two attack spells requiring an item slot, but against quick bosses, I find using Magic Mine helpful as well as it is rather destructive and quick to prepare. Of course there is also the Blind Arrow SP skill.

Percentiles for FB: Approx .330 iirc
Percentiles for Invisible Loom+Bloody Thread Used: Approx. .440 iirc
Sorry, seems Scythe is actually better owo

"Invisible Loom+Bloody Thread" is a combo + pull + snap (a little more than a "snap"), and it takes a lot longer to pull off than a single Firebolt.
