I've assumed that the changes made to magic were made in order to balance the class, not weaken or improve it.
No longer can players invest 400 AP into a single skill and obtain end-game damage potential with a mere 230/290 intelligence, which is easily obtainable. Compare to melee which requires players to obtain a large amount of damage through strength and equipment, while additionally costing AP to become well-rounded and range which requires players to obtain a larger amount of damage through dexterity and equipment, while additionally costing AP to become functional.
The exception being Alchemy, which literally has no requirements other than crystal consumption and the intial AP investment.
That's the thing. Golem was considered OP, yet all they did to that was make it
stronger in G13, while
increasing the amount of crystals you can hold. Meanwhile magic was both nerfed, and a new skill costing more AP was added in it's place. I don't see why they couldn't have done the same thing.
Also, the strength of magic is debatable. It isn't possible to OHKO HM mobs without critting (even then it sometimes won't OHKO) and it still requires a large charging time and mana pool, followed by massive aggro. It's debatable whether that is really "end-game" except under party play (which most people are garbage at, they'll let mobs rush at you and pummel you against a wall while you were busy charging up). IMO, it doesn't need re-balancing. I still find myself switching to melee, despite having maybe 2-3x as much AP currently invested into magic.

Mm.. to be honest... I prefer the new classes system, plus.. old class system they had will make players quit and in return, makes devcat loses more moneys. Plus if they wanted to do classes thingy.. WHY NOT DO IT AT BEGINNING OF G1! Not wait til last minute and then put them in. >.>
Because back in G1, which was like a billion years ago, they did not know if Mabinogi would be a successful MMORPG. They first advertised it as a fantasy life with little restrictions as their way to separate Mabinogi from the other MMORPGs.
Little did they know back then that they will have Mabinogi played in multiple countries, and 14 Generations.

I like the no class restrictions. Having a class restriction just makes it like every single other MMORPG. While we do get more overpowered, hopefully the new monsters will be more powerful too...? x_X

Well, with the job system, you don't get restrictions on any skills, but rather, you get bonuses for skills/stats related to the job.
Wasn't there an Elite difficulty for level 2000+ players?

Yes, but Elite actually had no restriction since it had to be accessed by a pass, I think. Level 1 total player can do Elite if he have the pass.

No way. It can't be too soon.
We don't even have G13 out here yet.

Wheee more damage to Flame Burst with masteries, Hopefully I won't have to charge 2+ to actually hurt a mob and not deal 1s-10s with normal hits.

400 Int will only make up for the damage nerf. It doesn't match 400 Int right now, which adds around 35 damage.
Not counting masteries, you'd need 600 Int for Ice Spear to regain it's strength, and 500 Int for Fireball and Thunder.
Blaze damage is supposedly impossible to make up for, so it's a flat 25% nerf with no recovery. It also doesn't gain any passive bonuses from Mastery either.
Not counting the 10% bonus that supposedly came around G9. In which case, add 200 more int needed without masteries.
If you do get the masteries, it is stronger. But thats adding an AP cost after the fact, which isn't cool.
I think its cool because with g13.. theres no total 300's shooting high ranked thunder matching your dmg at total 2000 >.>

in the update for G13 the developers in an interview (i'll look for it) answered a question on golems and their OP problem. They replied with in the future we are looking to change it and even it out.
YOU CAN EXPECT A NERF at some point somewhere in the future.

I'm sorry but Mabinogi is pumping Generations too fast, I've got no time to sink my teeth into them before the next one comes out...

I'm not gonna flame but I want to ask a question. Why is the reason most people use when a new generation come out is "I didn't have time to play this gen/I didn't finish X, Y,Z yet"? I mean it's not like the previous gen are disappearing, people can still do them at their pace. And when we catch to korea with generation update we'll have to wait as long as them + translation time so we'll have time to catch up on everything. Just my opinion.

This, and plus.. I see people complaining that Nexon is releasing the generation "too fast".. Of couse it will be fast, but it will slow down once G13 get released.. stop worrying, and if yu'e worrying about APs, just earn them while G13 is released... not that hard.
