A truck going at 20 mph (higher mass, low speed) can hurt you just as bad as a car moving at 50 mph (lower mass, high speed).
but this isn't about mass and whatnot, this is about a video game where stats apply. If you swung a sword at someone once or twice, they probably shouldn't be standing.

You said that the speed of a faster-swinging Gladius would cut deeper.
And I'm saying that the weight of a slower-swinging Two-Handed Sword would help you cut just as deep (or even more).
It's the same.

BUT IT'S A GAME. I'M JUST USING DEMON'S SOULS LOGIC LIKE MENTOS SAID GAWWWD xDD. In Demon's Souls you could use a sword and shield, but at anytime you could double wield your sword and put your shield away by simply pressing triangle. This would make your attacks stronger, but would use more stamina. They would also lower your defense when you tried to defend

No one's flaming. They're just discussing.

Oh, I was just comparing "two-handing" a single-wield weapon versus using a legit two-handed weapon.
I guess in your example, it would make some sense, seeing as you would use more force with both hands, which then translates to more power for the two-hand single-wield weapon instead of the one-hand single-wield weapon.
And more stamina too.
It makes sense.
But again, I raise the question... aren't Two-Handed Swords superior?

Yes, you could also one hand them(you put it over your shoulder) but they were much slower whilst one handing them. Less strong as well when one handing, but when you double handed them there speed increases(im not sure about speed in Demon's Souls) as does power, but stamina consumption increases as well

Hmm, I dunno.
Instead of asking for this idea, I'd just stick to Two-Handed Swords, which are stronger, already implemented and don't require a stamina increase.
Also, having faster attack speed isn't so great in Mabinogi anyway, except for Final Hit, of course. You can't N+1 easily with Normal speed weapons. Don't even think about doing so with Fast or Very Fast weapons either.

Fine fine, now, let's say Devcat introduced armor types and resistances.
This would give more reason to use certain types of weapons against a armor type.
Say, a blunt would be more effective on heavy armor than a sword would be because blunt trama would pass through the armor.
Yet, while blunts are similar in effectiveness towards light and unarmored types, swords would be capable of inflicting more damage becaue more exposure to skin and flesh.
If you lack certain weaponry towards armor types, you can two hand it to inflict more force (swinging a sword really hard on metal plates would be more effective than slashing it).
Now to get to the point. Say you're fighting a shadow commander who is wearing heavy armor and you only have a sword, whose power would get cut down by that armor. You can therefore two hand it to compensate.
NOW DISCUSS!
Oh and Phunkie, don't even think of trying to implement "reality" to mabinogi. Most real western and european swords actually have hilts long enough for two hands. Also, Mabinogi's gladius ISN'T EVEN VISUALLY OR USED AS A REAL GLADIUS! In reality, it's a short thrusting sword which would make it in mabinogi a normal speed, three hit weapon to compare tohe closest thing.

Yeah I know xD But I was just trying to explain do you what he meant, y'know?
So instead of adding speed, add more hits? Or maybe, less hits and more power?

All I'm saying is that if you want a two-handed sword, there's already a few in-game.
Doing this would make them obsolete. Single-wield swords serve one purpose, two-handed swords another purpose. We shouldn't mix and match them because then one will be stronger than the other.
The sense of reality I'm adding to the game is a very basic one. Two-handed swords are very slow, strong weapons because they're bigger and stronger than the faster and weaker single-wield swords. That's just basic reality and it makes sense.

I N+ with fast weapons all the time, and have, on occasion, pulled it off with very fast.

Fast weapons like Daggers?
Or Normal weapons like Fluted Short Swords?

I understand, haha. But this isn't reality :T_T:
Maybe add new weapons that can be interchangeable? ;D ;D

I just think this would make real two-handed swords useless, which I don't want.
If you want a two-handed weapon, use a two-handed sword, IMO. It has the power you're asking for, it has the stun, it has the Smash boost and the added critical rate. Seems quite ideal to me.
And what do you mean, this isn't reality? That's how it is in-game. o_O I'm not making anything up.
