Knowing how mentally straining starvation can be, I'd still eat my dog if it came to it. In the original post it's said that he's dead, so he can't help me hunt. Since he died I'll assume that we didn't have much luck finding food in the first place, and if a dog couldn't find something edible on the mountaintop I don't think I'd have better luck.
I mean, I wouldn't rush towards eating him, but if I was at the end of the rope I'm not letting his death go to waste.

if you'd guys like an interesting perspective on being stranded with animals with nothing to eat, read Life of Pi.
he literally got so desperate that he tried to eat the tiger's excrement before he was rescued. So thirsty, so hungry.. and hunger is the best spice after all. he spat it out afterwards so don't be too alarmed.

If he was already dead, I'l use his corpse as bait and hunt something else.

Quote from Whyrainfalls;280924:
@Arsik, even if I wanted to eat my dog, I'd probably throw up trying. I physically could not do it.
Quote from Phunkie;280930:
And how could I eat my dog with all his fur?
I would have to rip his hair off his skin and not only would I be crying (dry tears, because I'd probably be dehydrated from being stranded so long), but I would also feel utterly disgusted with myself as a person.
I don't even think I could even bite into my dog and swallow without puking right afterwards.
I would bury him and risk dying out there in the cold.
my points exactly
even if I wanted to eat her my companionship with her would be in my mind and I would cry and throw up and cry some more
If I were stranded I'd probably die, yes hunger and thirst get to you..
I've read the books I've watched this shows when you're that desperate you'll do just about anything
but no matter how desperate I couldn't bring myself to eat her..
anyone who knows me as a person would say I would do the same thing

Also, hunt wolves the eskimo way.
A dog's corpse is all you need. And you'll have more food than you could eat in several weeks.

I have 3 dogs.
I'd probably kill the oldest because I don't like her probably feed her chocolate.
then the two puppies (not related to her) I wouldn't worry because they'll eat the snow but the only thing that I worry about is warmth since they're chihuahuas.
But I'd probably eat some snow too.
